Listening to W&B earlier this week naming their top 10 all-time Cyclone Football players made me think, what would spread and matchup look like for the Mac through CPR era's best against the CMC era's best?

This is what i came up with, and please let me know who is off that should be subbed in or out. There's a few that could be argued if Lazard, or Netten should be CPR guys or CMC guys. According to AI, CMC's team would be a -2.5 favorite if this were to be simulated on CFB27. A KO vs Will McDonald matchup would be a really fun matchup!

Nice job on putting together the rosters. I think I'd put my money on Team 1.

QB - I'd put Sage Rosenfels above Brett and I pick them slightly above Team 2.
RB - Team 2, 2 NFL players, but Troy is maybe the best of them both if you watched him in person
WR - Team 2 - Lots of NFL recievers
TE - Team 2 - Kolar is the best of the bunch
OL - Team 1, KO was one of the best
DL - Seems even to be
LB - Team 1
DB - Seems Even
Special Teams, pretty Even.

Nice list, I went to school during Team 1 time and its fun to see the names side by side, I think they are pretty comparable rosters.

My main feedback would be Sage over Meyer at the QB2 for team 1. Also I think Lazard belongs on team 1 not team 2.

I think team 1 has a huge advantage on the OL, and with the Davis brothers would be able to run all over team 2.

I would have James Reed and Ahytba Rubin at DT. ISU had had a lot of good linebackers better than Jeremiah George. Tim Dobbins is who I would go with for now. Sage Rosenfels should be the backup QB. I would have to look it up because I might be misremembering, but wasn’t Mike Brandter a borderline NFL punter or am I thinking of someone else?

If Lazard is on Team 1, who would you take out? Lane, QB, or JJ? I think I would add Deshaunte Jones on Team 2 in that scenario?

The skill positions would be too much for team 1. No offense to Lenz but Kene when healthy would eat. Theres a reason he’s still in the league. (If you call the Jets a professional team…)

It would probably end up being whoever has the ball last wins.
There are some nasty combinations of players on both sides of the ball.

Solid list. I admire the work you put into it, should be a fun exercise.

If you’re open to collaboration, a few revisions on name spelling, depending on how thorough you want to be.
Bret Meyer
Quenton Bundrage
Kelechi Osemele
Kirby Van Der Kamp
Derek Schweiger
Will McDonald
Dom Orange
Kene Nwangwu
JaQuan Bailey
***
Extra-nitpicky (periods/caps):
A.J. Klein
E.J. Bibbs
T. J. Tampa

Team 1 is missing AA center Ben Bruns

Lorenzo White over Hayworth. White would’ve had a long nfl career if not for a condition that was discovered during draft prep IIRC.

James Reed at DT and possibly Derek Clark and or Jesse Beckman. Both were Defensive Newcommers of the Yr.

Team 2 could basically make a formidable NFL team. OL would be the only missing piece. You already have NFL starters or role players are basically every other position.

Team 2 has more talent, but are they running a 3-3 stack? Because Seneca is a QB built to ruin that scheme. And he is paired with a couple RBs that are really difficult to tackle in space. It’s a really bad matchup for the team 2 defense.

I am also not sure how team 1 stops those receivers and Breece (the best RB on either team) and Brock. He is built to distribute and that is a lot of options to throw to. He had his statically best season with Butler on the outside. And now he has Lazard too, and the TEs. Look out.

Not sure who wins, but I would love to watch and find out. First team to 50 probably. Neither of these defenses are built to stop a different era of offense.

O/U 62.5?

It's difficult to decide on Lazard, since it's two years on each, he almost feels more like a "CPR guy," but his yardage/TD impact was higher in '16/'17. I'm sure it helped somewhat that 2017 was part of a better team overall than any of the first three years.

Interesting to note, though, his yards per catch are nearly identical across all four seasons: 13.2, 13.2, 13.5, 13.3.
