It was a variation of this technique which I’ve always called the Williams Roll after Steve Williams here. I’ve seen the move used several times, and can be very tight. But definitely not a typical technique.

Funny, I had the same thought watching MJ in the first period against Kennedy. Maybe it's fate that Feldkamp came here so he can mentor MJ. Lol
