I pretty much agree here. There are lots of good football players in the Jersey, southern NY, and eastern PA area where the metropolitan pop. is c. 25 million. True, he will have to compete with Penn St., Cuse, and BC, but Rutgers is located about an hour from NYC and only a bit more from Philly, which should help with the recruiting. And an earlier post was mistaken when he implied that the Rutgers job has been bad forever: the fact is that for decades Rutgers did not try to compete at the highest level, playing a kind of neo-Ivy league schedule. Then came Schiano and ambition grew. This is just wrong. Chris Ash is an innovative mind and a good recruiter. He'll recruit the heck out of that region and land some pretty good players.
Both Chris ash and Tom Herman both head coaches at FBS schools it is amazing that once an assistant coach leaves Iowa state they lead there own program
Pretty typical for someone who wants to be a head coach and thinks he is ready.
You are correct. All one needs to do is to do the math. He got divorced after his time in Ames in 2009. I'm sure some on here know the specifics.Pretty sure that Ash had other issues that seemed to get in the way. Had nothing to do with coaching.
