NFL: ***Chicago Bears 2025 Thread***

Me too. I didn't really think they were getting by Seattle this year anyway, but I wanted to see how they'd do. You have to make hay when the sun shines, you don't know when you'll get yourself back there again.

They have quite a few holes to fill and not nearly as much cap space as I'd like. Coaches have to grow a bit as well. The reality is next year they will have a much tougher schedule so winning the division is enough of a goal to go with again for me, knowing they could be visibly better but te record not show it.

As long as they don't pull a Vikings and get rid of their winning QB after a more than solid season.

This is why don't be surprised when some higher priced good player gets traded or released if it helps them out a good bit cap wise. Try to fill the holes with some younger & cheaper players.

That game would have been so different if the Bears could have gotten 1 to 2 yards on a carry when they needed it.
Obviously that needs to be addressed this off season.
Swift and Monongai (sp) racked up something like 1800 yds combined.
1-2 punch similar to Gibbs-Montgomery.
What's bugged me about Johnson is the predictable, inside the 5ish.
Two successive next to nothing runs, over and over throughout the season, when the box is stacked.
Aside-included, wtf don't teams inside the 5ish begin first down with the unexpected pass?
Knock the d off balance.

If Rome can average more than 4 catches per game played it would be like getting a new player.

Dude vanished

With the available cap space from restructuring Moore's, Thuney's, and Jarrett's deals, I don't think they'll prioritize moving Moore to the point that they'll take 50 cents on the dollar. BUT, I do bet they'll shop him around to see if there's a salary cap switch (with ancillary picks) that makes sense. Maxx Crosby would be the most obvious (and extremely unlikely) example. Moore + a handful of picks for Crosby would be incredible. I just don't think they'll take anything less than an impact player or pick equivalent in return. I do think, however, that Burden's second half surge will certain make it more possible.

I also think it's highly possible that Edmunds gets cut, which would add another $13m or so in cap space. He's a good player, but I think there are other, cheaper options out there, including draft eligible guys. And that's a position that needs to get younger, especially with Edwards' extension.

End of the Year Press Conferences with Coach Johnson & GM Ryan Poles. Worth the watch.

Do agree with Coach Johnson on this:

Not great news on Trapilo:

Is it possible DJ Moore was dealing with a concussion? They said he got checked out after that first hit, and then he got smoked right after he reentered the game. They showed him on the sideline trying to collect himself. I just have to wonder if he wasn't all the way there.
This was my immediate thought.

UGH at this. Bears position needs are MOUNTING UP this off-season:

Center
Left Tackle
2 safeties, and back-ups
2 LB's, maybe 3
D End
D Tackle
Maybe a corner

Supposedly for a mid-round pick. I liked DJ but had to free up some cap space. Time for Odunze and Burden to step up.

Wow, got a 2nd Round pick and freed up the cap money. Good deal I think.

I love Burden's upside so the Bears should be good at the WR position and could probably either sign or draft a center. Wish we didn't have to give up a pick but I'm not too worried about that

Good trade for the Bears. Moore giving up on that route will be his lasting impression for a lot of fans, but he was a good receiver.
