NFL: ***Chicago Bears 2025 Thread***

CW "generational talent" accolades ring more true with each passing year.
He's improving...unlike Bear qbs of the past. Hi Mitch!
I'm thrilled with this year's progress.
Period.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is more roster turnover for next year than many would think. I don't think Coach Johnson is one to just stand pat. Very well could be a couple of "Wow they traded/released so and so" coming this off-season.

While Chase Daniel will always haunt me from 2005, this is perfect...

No the hero play call was not necessary. One first down away from FG range to win and making five yards a clip on short screen passes, etc. The Bears made an unnecessary risky play because the coaches got greedy instead of taking what was needed to win the game. I just never understand why that happens. Get first downs when you need first downs and don't try to "take a shot" at that point in the game when it is all or nothing.

That game would have been so different if the Bears could have gotten 1 to 2 yards on a carry when they needed it.
Obviously that needs to be addressed this off season.

That wasn’t a “hero” play. That was a DJ Moore didn’t flatten out his route into the wide open space play. Watch the Chase Daniel breakdown. Anyone that has eyes can see what happened, and that was not on Caleb. He played to exactly what the defense gave him. The short passes you want him to do? Covered. The deep in was so wide open, but DJ took the play off for some reason.

The right free agent adds, look out.

I don't think he was going to be back regardless of this play,

They aren’t going to eat his contract. He will definitely be back. They would have to take a $28.5 million cap hit to get rid of him.

Edit: I misread the cap hit. Looks like 8 million dead cap if he gets released.

Is it possible DJ Moore was dealing with a concussion? They said he got checked out after that first hit, and then he got smoked right after he reentered the game. They showed him on the sideline trying to collect himself. I just have to wonder if he wasn't all the way there.

Or if they kicked fgs instead of being greedy in 1st half.

I think Collinsworth made a good point on this, which feels gross to say. Early on, I think Ben thought field goals weren't going to win this game. Rams have a great offense and the Bears defense hasn't really stopped anyone lately. As the game went on and he realized his defense was playing really well, he got more comfortable taking some points. But I can understand early on thinking this was a game where you needed touchdowns.

Still bad when it doesn't pay off because of the confidence and momentum your opponent gets from stopping you on 4th down.

Not gonna lie, I wanted that one bad and losing sucks, but this is like the Cubs in 2015. Did more than I thought they would and then the next year win the whole thing. (I hope)
Me too. I didn't really think they were getting by Seattle this year anyway, but I wanted to see how they'd do. You have to make hay when the sun shines, you don't know when you'll get yourself back there again.

They have quite a few holes to fill and not nearly as much cap space as I'd like. Coaches have to grow a bit as well. The reality is next year they will have a much tougher schedule so winning the division is enough of a goal to go with again for me, knowing they could be visibly better but te record not show it.
