CENTRAL IOWA CAR TIRES

Sam's stocks and sells mainly the same high end products as Costco, not the cheap chinesium that Wal-Mart stores have for pennies.

That said, I don't really see a reason to buy at Sam's over Costco since Costco's care policy is included and seems to be a better deal.
Costco wouldn't put non-run flats on a run flat equipped car.
Dealer would but it cost more.
Sams did and it was same price as Costco.

Weird.

Been buying tires from my small town Walmart for 15-20 years. Good prices, convenient, rotate for free when I get the $25 PitStop oil change. Buy protection for $10/tire and they'll fix flat at any Walmart in the country for free, and on two occasions they've replaced tires at no charge because the nail/screw damage was deemed too near the sidewall...

If you are planning on getting Goodyear tires, check into using a Goodyear credit card. Sometimes they will double the rebates if you put it on your Goodyear card. I have done this multiple times. I just put a set of Goodyear WeatherReady 2 tires on my wife’s car and received a $300 rebate.

3rd for Michelin Defenders but on my work car there’s some pretty good Chinese knock offs you can get cheap and they last. I have a tire guy that told me about them but I would 100% find someone you trust to tell you which ones. He said a lot are crap but there are tires from China that are ok

I cross-shopped a ton of these before going with Discount Tire for a different option not available at Costco...and also so Discount could do the alignment for us, which warehouses will not do.

Pro tip: you can get quotes from Costco/Sam's/wherever and take them to Discount and they'll try to match.
What was the price difference on the quotes? Can't imagine that is worth peoples time.

NICE!!!! Do you recall what the price was by chance????

Just put Michelin CrossClimate2 tires on my 2018 sedan, had Costco do it. Appointment was 3 days after ordering, appointment lasted 60-90 minutes and they were done. It was $890 total for what my research said was the safest and longest lasting tire available.

Tread looks intimidating but its very quiet above 30-35 MPH, maybe louder under 30 mph and a slight drop in MPG versus the Goodyear Assurance I had on before.

It's meaningful at Discount since they don't come with a full hazard warranty, but Costco does. Tire pricing itself was pretty similar, but the services attached were the difference. Hundred or two bucks tied up there depending on tire purchase. A small amount of finagling will get some costs down.

if for an SUV Toyo Celsius tires have been great on the wifes, got 75-80k of use out of the 1st set and just had to buy a 3rd set because of road issues in Illinois.

I have Defenders too. Very happy with them going into their third winter. Much better than the crappy Bridgestone Alenzas that were on it when I bought it.

As several others have stated, Costco is the way to go. I've been happy with Michelin CrossClimate 2 on our SUV. Very quiet and good in rain and snow.

I have a Firestone shop near by. Put on 4 55k tires last year. ( $900)
The dealer quoted me a price with an alignment of $1,300. Firestone did a complimentary alignment check to see if you need one.

Which would those be? The one's I got via Sam's I researched on Tirerack and had good reviews. They weren't Wally World Specials.

They must be better than they used to be because their tires were terrible.

LOL this is nothing more than a sales tactic. If you throw ten vehicles up on an alignment rack nine of them will be out of spec. It takes next to nothing to throw the toe out.

I have run General Altimax tires on my passenger vehicles for a decade and always been very pleased with them. Good balance of performance versus price. They're not the quietest tire but their winter performance is very solid and That's more important to me than road noise. Most tire shops don't stock them but I've never had to wait more than a day or two to get them in.

Would definitely second those that have said to compare on tire rack and then price shop

Going on the 3rd winter with 4 tires of cooper endeavors really quiet and great wear and handling

These are the cadillac but if you have an odd wheel size they will be spendy.

My brother owns a tire shop and sells everything. He sold us these:

Love them. They look aggressive but are just as quiet as the pirrellis that came on the vehicle and they ride better. I can't speak to wear yet but we live on a fairly large hill and my wife used to drive 20 miles to work everyday so it wasn't my utmost priority.
