I read that too but that wasn't the case with mine. I could blow out the pipes in P and N. It's an 04 (work commuter) that i bought about 10 years ago with a reman motor so I assume that must pre restrictor.I assume you know it used to go over 4k rpm in P or N? I could see an OEM programming a rev limiter when not in gear to prevent people from doing stupid ****.
Maybe you lost a fuel injector? Had that happen to me once ('91 Grand Am #humblebrag). Seemed to run okay - no vibration or strange noises, just more gutless than normal. Seems like there would be a light for that, but maybe not depending on what happened.
Regardless it's headed to the shop Monday morning.
