Looking at rivals I see only 2 schools in the conference with clear separation from the Cyclones - Texas and Oklahoma.

It could be another year or two but the day will arrive when Iowa State runs on the field with equal or better recruits than most of the conference opponents. After that it comes down to development - new training facility - and coaching. The combination of new facilities and Campbell have paid of in a way I would not have thought possible. Twenty recruits @ three star.

247Composite has Big 12 teams ranked as follows:

#8 Oklahoma
#26 Texas
#31 TCU
#38 Oklahoma State
#39 Baylor (HOW?!? WHY?!?)
#52 Texas Tech
#53 Iowa State
#56 West Virginia
#62 Kansas State
#70 Kansas

West Virginia is surprisingly low, but other than that ISU is right there after the teams you would expect to see in the top half of the conference rankings. And when it comes to these rankings the difference between #26 and #53 isn't huge.

Really surprised by Baylor, but it is in TX. Guess if you can sell all the crap going on down there are just a few rouge players, and that the NCAA is never going to punish the Bears, than maybe I can see it. Still seems like there is not institutional control at all in the football program.

Heard Paul Finebaum say yesterday that Alabama had "nearly as many" top 300 recruits as the B12 combined. No idea how true that is. I'd assume every Bama recruit was in the top 300.

Stanz said on the radio this doesn't include the grad transfers for sure, and maybe not the Jucos. It could be argued that those are huge gets in this class that aren't getting any credit in that ranking, making it an even better class than the ranking shows.

Campbell has done an awesome job recruiting.

To me, it looks like Coach Campbell is actually modeling his teams at ISU after the K-State teams of Bill Snyder. Bring in the JUCO's to immediately help offset any position where they haven't been able to develop yet. Recruit heavy in the Midwest. Keep ties to the state high school talent. Then coach up what he's brought in.

Maybe I'm just drinking the kool-aid, but I think Campbell is recruiting better people.

Our 3-stars are better people than their 3-stars!
