Cadillac vs Lincoln

We owned a Navigator for several years. Drove 80,000 miles. Very nice car. Never had an issue with it ever. We have an Expedition now which is nice but it doesn’t ride as good and isn’t as quiet as the Navigator was. We would like to get back to a Navigator eventually

I have CT5, Eseries, A7, Genesis, and MKZ on my watchlist. The Continental and CT6 are too large for my taste, but I am sure they are very smooth and powerful. I am not interested in the 5series, since I have already owned the z4 and 335. Also, I am not a fan of the carbon fiber on Lexus. Seems like Cadillac has more technology and used Lincolns are less expensive than Caddys. I test drove CTS, ATS, A7. The A7 checked all the boxes- styling, ride, performance. American cars seem to cost less for parts and service. Reliability is oversold IMO. I have driven a 2015 Chrysler 200c for over 7 years without a single repair. All reports says it is junk.

It's not really Cadillac vs. Lincoln. They each have advantages in certain model lineups.

There are far more Cadillac options than Lincoln, so it really depends on what you're wanting to purchase. I love the V-line vehicles Cadillac offers. Personally, I prefer the new Lincoln SUV line over the Cadillacs, but you really can't go wrong either way.

In regard to Lincoln vs Cadillac, I will bump this thread in 20 years or so when I feel like I want that old persons vehicle.

My impression is that the Caddy sedans are more performance oriented - their competition is Mercedes AMGs and BMWs - whereas the Lincoln is more about passenger comfort. Quiet, smooth ride, more plush seating, etc.

I have no interest in either the Escalade or Navigator. IMO they both seem to be 100% about status signaling rather than being good at the things an SUV should be good at. Off road, towing, cargo, able to handle dirt/grime, etc.

I can't imagine anyone buying a $100k+ luxury SUV and worrying about things like off-road, handle dirt grime, etc. Have you been in one of these? They are some of the most luxurious vehicles being made. They're powerful, they have a TON of space, their quiet, their luxurious, can pull 8k lbs, etc. No, a Navigator is not a wrangler.

I have an A6 now, at some point moving to a A7/S7. German cars have their gremlins which can be annoying, but my A6 is pushing 128K miles and it's still rock solid. I will never get used to the $200 oil changes though.

I also can't imagine a person who buys a $100k vehicle hauling garbage to the dump, or a load of mulch/gravel, etc. Not that the vehicle isn't capable, but you don't see it. Compare that to a Suburban/Expedition.

I drive a '19 XT5 & wife has a '15 ATS absolutely love both of them. Used to have an '11 SRX which also drove like a dream.

I bought a used 2007 Cadillac DTSin 2015 and it was the nicest car I have ever owned. Very smooth ride but got rid of it because it rode too low for my wife to get in and out of.

I own both an Audi and BMW. From where I live it's 2 1/2 hours each way for these to be serviced. So, in that respect, I truly regret owning these.

LOL. I'm a perfectionist widget type of guy. Trust me. I can come up with a boatload of other reasons I'll be considering other brands next time around.

Another luxury brand/model with terrible reliability with high maintenance cost is the Land Rover.

If you want a good laugh sometime look up Doug Demuro and his adventures in a Land Rover he bought from Carmax with the warranty.

Strongly agree with the majority. Lincoln is superior in almost every aspect. Much more smooth and comfortable ride, if you get one that's been taken care of, maintenance won't be an issue, and they'll outlast anything GM puts out 2 to 1, (at least).

I drove them on and off for 20 yrs. IMO, there's no comparison... Heck, I've driven Mercury Grand Marquis' and Ford Crown Vics I'd take over any Caddie.

OP, what kind of vehicle are you looking to get specifically? Sedan? SUV?

I would say Cadillac and not even close. But it probably depends a little on the models in question, thought I can't think of any Lincoln I'd by over the Cadillac,
