Bubu could help...Monte at the point

As much as I hate to start this thread with all of the speculation in the media, I think Bubu would be a great addition to the team at this point. (I was totally opposed to it 3 or 4 days ago until my brother persuaded me differently). Coming off the bench, he would provide quality minutes (10-16 minutes) like he did last year. He could be the catalyst we need in order to help us push through this rough stretch, especially when Kane is struggling at the point. He's been through a lot of adversity, personally and from a basketball standpoint. He would help us get into our offense and allow Kane to play off the ball more.

Last year he came in numerous times in hostile environments or at home and gave the team a calming effect. He does a great job in high pressure situations and gets us into the offense when teams make us play in the half-court (which has happened a lot in the past 3 games). He has an extremely high basketball I.Q. and has played with his fair share of big names/great players. We have a great plethora of great players and we need a floor leader. I think we MUST insert Monte into the starting lineup on Saturday (K-State). He has been the most consistent in handling the ball and it would shift Kane off the ball, where we can post him up or isolate him with a smaller guard. We have a week off and Hoiberg will get everyone back on the same page. Eliminate the turnovers, play loose, and knock down a few more threes and we'll be right there at the end of Big 12 season and NCAA tourney.

Thoughts?

I don't think it would make any sense to play Bubu, who is probably not in basketball shape and not ready to be thrown into the pace of Big 12 play. Morris is deserving of more minutes, especially if Kane is turning the ball over too much.

Bubu would have helped these last three games, especially today and at OU. He will allow us to start MM with Kane, and still have a primary ball-handler off the bench. One thing Bubu does it get things going with his energy, in a good way most of the time.

Morris is deserving of more minutes, and agree BuBu may not be in the best basketball shape. But it didn't take him long last year to get into shape and begin contributing, and his perimeter defense and experience would be a huge plus for this team. It's good he's got a week of practice before his first game back, and it should help him get acclimated quicker.

We have been in the games we lost until the end. Other teams are just executing better than us down the stretch. Of course, it's easier to execute at home. That's where it has to have experience playing in the Big XII/NCAA, which is why it would have been helpful to have Bubu on the team. He still may be able to help, though not playing until now is going to make it difficult.

I agree.

Start MM at the point, and Kane at the two guard. Sit Naz and Thomas. Then.... sub in Naz, Thomas, and Bubu as needed depending on what you need in the game at the time.

The only way Bubu can help this team is if he is all of a sudden 7 foot tall. The last thing this team needs is another guard that cannot score points.

No, the team does not need another guard that cannot shoot consistently and cannot defend and cannot create.
Bubu may struggle shooting, but he can do the latter two better than what Naz and Thomas have shown.

Bubu hasn't practiced and isn't in shape. No chance he plays anytime soon.

Bubu Palo is a 3rd string guard at best and playing him would be a huge mistake. Hoiberg needs to give some of his young players more minutes or they are going to walk on him. I know that many won't care because it seems like there will be an endless parade of transfer players each year to come in and pick up the slack, but one of these days that is going to naturally backfire.

Hoiberg needs to develop at least some players this season and see them improve. Iowa State needs some of the Freshman to stick around and steadily improve going forward. Niang is a nice start to that, but guys who have some size and talent that should have at least developed by now like Gibson have been shoved to the end of the bench and seemingly gotten worse.

If this is going to be Hoiberg's job for the long haul, then he needs to realize that the rest of this season has to in part be spent developing guys like Dorsey-Walker and Thomas. They need time on the court to get better, and throwing Palo out there to take up those minutes isn't a wise move.
