Breaking Bad

I suppose it's understandable to look the other way. It's not understandable to actually actively participate.

That's the difference between her and Carmela Soprano.

Laundering the money and running that side of things is much easier for someone like Sklyar to morally justify to herself, much moreso than if she was involved with the meth/killing side of the business. I'd argue that if Carmela was smart enough (and Tony allowed it), she would have no problem morally with laundering Tony's money herself... she obviously has never had a problem with spending it and enjoying the fruits of his activities.

I don't think it is nearly that simple.

It is that simple, it's just hard to root against the main character because you know them better than the other people. That's the most intriguing part of shows like this with a bad guy as your lead character.

I think Jesse has delineated the point where it is just impossible to root for Walt, in what he has done to the innocent people. I find killing the ten guys reprehensible, but maybe some think they were thugs who deserved it. However, poisoning Brock was just unforgivable. Also the death of the child on the bike.

I disagree, I don't think its as simple as "The White's are bad, mmmkay. You are supposed to root against them." They are obviously not good people but I don't think the show has set up many simple good/bad scenarios, at least since the early seasons when at times it was Walt/Jesse vs. Bad Guys (like Tucco).

But after she gave him the money, he was a threat to either squeeze them for more money or turn them over to the feds. Which is why she sent Saul's boys after him. It was just as big a threat to the family. Skylar's stupidity, betrayal, and immorality in the Ted situation goes far beyond just the sex.
Yes she made a mistake helping Ted (who actually himself cooked the books first before Skyler got there), but she gave him the money because she was scared that if the IRS investigation on Ted got too deep, they could audit her and Walt and they would be exposed. She got desperate and went to Saul and things got out of hand and the accident happened. She wasn't betraying anyone, she was trying to avoid having her family be torn apart if Walt was exposed.

And don't forget that a lot of what happened with Ted was Skyler reacting to finding out what Walt had done, probably out of retaliation and spite. So yes she made some stupid decisions in that situation, and those stupid decisions snowballed into something bigger as what tends to happen on this show.

I will bet you that you are rooting for Walt by the end of the show.

I'm just rooting for good television myself. Only character who I really want to survive and get through this is Jesse.

She betrayed Walt by giving Ted the money without telling him first. Wasn't he thinking of quitting at that time since he had enough money? And then suddenly he didn't? Also, she betrayed him by making Ted suspicious and thus a threat. Laundering her husband's money wasn't a big step after cooking Ted's books either.

Best thing she could have done for her kids was leaving Walt for good. They have been in danger ever since.

Let me get this straight. To save her family, Skyler kicks Walt out of the house and gives no reason for it to anyone. So instead of having a son who hates his father for being a horrible person, Skyler has a son who hates her because he's without a father and has no idea why. Her actions to "save" the family would have completely torn it apart, had Walt not eventually come back into the house.

And for all the talk of family, there is now no hope of keeping Hank and Marie in their lives. That's over, no going back now. I'll grant that Skyler was put in a very poor position by Walt's choices, but her choices have only helped to make things worse.

Which would never have happened if she hadn't started laundering Walt's money.

I don't think anyone is arguing that point. I think the best part of the show is how you see people make decisions right or wrong and how it affects and effects others as well as their future decisions.

It is amazing seeing how Pride (Walt and not wanting to take charity money) and concern for providing for her family (I wonder why Skyler couldn't get another job....) turned into a killing drug maker and a wife that seems to just be going with the flow now instead of trying to stop anything.

Unconditional love. Wedding vows can be tricky. --> I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Of course, cheating on the husband may make the vows null and void. Do over?

So she was probably choosing between her son just thinking they got separated and her son knowing that his father is a meth cooking homicidal ******* who is putting his own family in danger due to his business.
