Bowl Game Projections

I really wish I had written down what Jamie said on the Call-in show last night. He laid out his well-informed thoughts about scenarios that we are just guessing about.

He said Orlando was likely if TCU won. Liberty if TCU lost.

Brett McMurphy latest projection:

BOWL (CITY) DATE MATCHUP
Cactus Bowl (Phoenix) Dec. 26 Big 12 vs. Pac-12

Projection: Iowa State vs. Oregon

Iowa State locked in coach Matt Campbell on Monday, giving him a new six-year contract worth $22 million. He’ll earn every penny trying to slow down Willie Taggart’s Oregon offense, which is averaging more than 50 points a game with quarterback Justin Herbert.

And here's the Liberty Bowl for those wondering. Sounds like they're pushing hard to maneuver Memphis into the Liberty Bowl.

BOWL (CITY) DATE MATCHUP
Liberty Bowl (Memphis) Dec. 30 Big 12 vs. SEC

Projection: West Virginia vs. Memphis**

Look for the hometown Tigers to make their first appearance in the Liberty Bowl. I’m told the American Athletic Conference is moving around some of its teams to help fill other vacancies. With the SEC unable to fill this slot, the Tigers would be the purr-fect choice (sorry about that pun). Hopefully Will Grier can return for West Virginia, so this bowl would feature two of the nation’s top QBs in him and Riley Ferguson.

Camping World Bowl Dec. 28 Orlando, Fla. ACC vs. Big 12 Notre Dame vs. Iowa State

https://www.onefootdown.com/2017/11...-first-time-cyclones-camping-world-citrus-lsu

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are likely headed to an Orlando, Florida bowl following their 38-20 loss to the Stanford Cardinal, with the most likely pairing being the Iowa St. Cyclonesin the Camping World Bowl.

While the Irish and Iowa Hawkeyes have played 24 times previously, Notre Dame has never played the team from Ames. The Cyclones are 7-5 this year, with big wins against the Oklahoma Sooners and TCU Horned Frogs. They will finish fourth in the Big 12, and aren’t particularly good at anything. (They are ranked 17th in fewest penalties per game.)

I could totally be wrong but I seem to remember ISU playing Notre Dame in South Bend around 1982 or so. Maybe it was rumored to be happening but never did.

Edit. Nope, didn't happen. Sorry

Sounded like Pollard wants to go to Memphis, both for the coach to have more practices and because he knows how well our fan base will travel there. And he probably has lots of buddies in Memphis after he fulfilled his promises to the Liberty Bowl last time.

I was talking to cop while waiting to get through the barricades to Beale Street on NYE. He said he was pretty sure all the businesses wished ISU fans would just move down there.

Aren’t bowl practices limited no matter what bowl you have?
