Big 12 schedule

I didn't see this posted anywhere else but is kind of sound like Rhoads is the only big 12 coach that really would like to go to a 4-4-1 schedule format.

I think we kicked it around a little in another thread during media days. Seems like a strange comment from CPR to me since having Iowa on the schedule gives us a balanced 5-5 home/road slate of BCS teams.

I even live in KC and would not want to play KU or KSU in Arrowhead. I loved going to Arrowhead for FSU, but the KSU series never had the aura of a special event (in my opinion).

I agree with CPR that a 4-4-1 would be superior. Farmageddon rocked at Arrowhead. Too bad the Old Man put the kabosh to that.

Bowlsby's opinion is a bit of surprise. He'll always be an Iowa Boy to me, but he came to the Big 12 from Stanford where they played the 4-5/5-4 scheduling for years, so you have to respect his opinion. He is not so much against it, but observes that its tough to make it work.

Still, 4 Big 12 teams already play 4-4-1 and I wish something could be worked out for ISU. How about Okie State at Arrowhead? Or maybe WVU at Soldier Field?

TCU/OSU? OSU/KU? TCU/WVU, "the newbies? ISU/WVU in... where, Chicago? KU/KSU in Arrowhead?

Just having a hard time finding theoretical final match-ups here...

I like your thinking. Thinking out of the box ... considering the geography for ISU and WVU, what about alternating between, say Pittsburg and KC (Arrowhead)? Sortof a hybrid, home-neutral and away-nuetral. For that matter, maybe a Texas school at Jerry's World one year and Arrowhead the next?

Assume that some in-state games (KU/KSU, OU/OSU, maybe BU/TCU) are off-limits. If you could find suitable locations for all of the other combinations, it may be possible to do 2-year cycles inside a 4 or 6-year rotation.

Kansas City and Dallas/Arlington would be the big benefactors. And I'm sure that the powers that be in Kansas City would love to reaffirm their ties to the Big 12.
