I feel like growing up my folks would take us to Godfathers/Happy Joe's types of places.
Like a pan/hand tossed hybrid?
I worked at Pizza Hut way a long time ago, the main difference in their "hand-tossed" and pan is:
-> hand-tossed gets a frozen disk of dough and 3 large squirts of oil
-> pan gets a ball of dough and 8! squirts of oil

The pan one was a little shocking, basically the dough sits in a pool of oil (like mostly full pan of oil and overnight it works its way out to fill the pan. I mean, I'll still eat it, but it is terrible for you lol.

I’ve been into Atomic Cowboy lately, here in Overland Park. It’s based out of Denver, but is NY style.

Sarpinos might be the best pizza I’ve had down here though. Idk what style it is, normal? lol
Minskys was always my go to when I lived in KC. Mainly because the Spicy Thai pizza is addicting.

If anyone is wondering, like I was, what all these styles look like... the link below is a decent one. If you scroll down the page it gives pretty good pics of all the kinds. I think the Grandma style and the Colorado look good.

I’ve had that Colorado place and if you braid the crust it’s basically Great Plains in Ames. It’s been a long time but I think the wheat crust was actually braided at Great Plains.

I like Chicago style, partly I don't have it as frequently, so has more allure. I have had some disappointing ones, though.

Detroit style seems so "common' to me now, a lot of chains use the basic style and it can be a bit boring.

I wish Pizza Hut would just scrap it all and go back to the recipe from 20-30 years ago. Stop trying to chase the inexpensive carry out chain places. Go back to the eat in quality pizza place. Even if it is more expensive, I think they’d do better than they are now with all the gimmicks they’ve tried.

Nothing was better than a Pizza Hut pan in the restaurant.
