Never heard of Taco Tico until this thread so of the three I vote Taco Johns. I prefer Tasty Tacos to all of them hands down.

Taco Time used to be the best ff mex in Ames.
Johns sucks and bell is worse.
Tasty Tacos is the best in the Des Moines area.

Really great burritos and they have authentic dishes as well. They have my favorite tortas that I've ever eaten, and I search every city I visit (maybe 12 a year) for authentic Mexican. Only place I've found so far as good as Zamora's is a place in Houston called Iguala Meat Market.
