Batemon shoutout

Loved seeing him take it to the rim too. Also he played pretty decent on defense. Hoping he continues to get more minutes because he will be a key piece to keep within the program the next few years

If a part of the reason we are dog **** to start games is to have the energy to not suck later in games, maybe our starters can step up their play earlier in games and, in turn, save their energy by eating a few more minutes on the bench and letting Nelson and Batemon play more. They’ve earned it.

His defense has come a long way. Feels like he needs to be first off the bench maybe to provide a spark for the team? With Heise being first bench player in that doesn't really provide a consistent offensive spark

He was a brightspot for sure, great to see him have a big game!

If he can get a little bit better at backside defense, he'll be an absolute weapon. He had a couple of lapses on the backside last night that led to 3's, but that's my only gripe about it. It's not like he was the only one who that was happening to.

We were exposed last night as the more slow-footed team . KU was quicker on blow-bys, close-outs, double teams, loose balls, and rotations. I think UConn typically has the really quick guards who can wreck any defense. Add to that our poor layup shooting, 3 point shooting, passing, and free throw shooting, and we had a perfect storm. Nelson and Batemon are getting closer in value to Heise and Toure.

The recruiting rank on Batemon was accurate. He is improving on defense, so I am guessing his minutes will only increase. I fully expect a monster breakout game from him in the near future. (Hopefully, Saturday)

I loved that he showed he could be the total package of a Big 12 guard, really first game we saw it all. He doesn't have ideal size for a 2 but everything else is there and paired with a great point guard to get him open looks he could be a really great player for us.

I noticed he had his feet staggered on one of his three attempts but it still went in. Wondering if this was intentional or if he's just that good of a three point shooter.
