Audi Crooks to Transfer

I was actually in Penny's at VWM a couple of years ago on a Saturday around Christmas. The entire mall was empty. Nothing was open except Pennies and maybe one or two other stores. Figured it would all be shut down by now. Same with JC Penny.
It hasn’t shut down because it’s been in foreclosure for like 5 years. Once that’s all settled, the city of WDM is gonna buy it and tear it down. They want to build a new town center there. Some shopping, restraints, etc.

Yeah I think I read there's an ownership group already together they're just working on getting the few tenants remaining out of there.

Ashley was great at Iowa State, got a few years of income from bouncing around the WNBA, but the competition, size, speed, quickness, and skill set were another level....same for Lacey.

The only player to hold on to her spot and make it worthwhile is Careleton.

Bridget Carleton signed a three-year, max contract with the Portland Fire in April 2026, marking her as the expansion team's first-ever free-agent signing. Bridget Carleton signed a 3 year, $3,748,500 contract with the Portland Fire, including $3,748,500 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,249,500. In 2026, Carleton will earn a base salary of $1,190,000, while carrying a cap hit of $1,190,000 and a dead cap value of $3,748,500

Minor correction: she wasn't a free agent, she was selected #1 in the expansion draft by Portland.

Interesting. I remember awhile back they tore down one of the major retailer buildings at Southridge. Something to do with vehicle traffic v. Square footage. I know it was proposed to make it an outlet mall but it was too far from the highway five bypass. Basically just over a mile instead of within. This was every bit of 15 years ago so guidelines may of changed by now.

This is a strange hill you are insisting on dying on. We were not an inconsistent three-point shooting team by the standards of NCAA WBB no matter how badly it didn't pass your eye-test.

If the game-to-game "swings" were "major" then the standard deviation would be large. It's not, it's very normal compared to most other teams.
Statistics on a Sunday morning makes my head spin. But thanks for doing the work. An eye opener for me:)

What the data brings me to, maybe our flaw was one-dimensional perimeter shooters. If they weren't making 3's, our offense was just Audi.

% Shots Attempted from 3

Arianna. 93%
Kenzie. 85%
Sydney. 77%
Wilson. 71%
Jada. 36%
Addy. 35%
Beaty. 21%

Compared to the ISU men perimeter players:
Momcilovic 68%
Bateman. 68%
Heise. 53%
Lipsey. 36%
Toure. 36%

WDM wants to clean the area up, the entire mall is a huge eye sore at this point. There was talk of trying to repurpose into low income housing but that didn’t go over to well. I believe Kwik Star was trying to buy the old Iowa Reality building on the corner which would be a really nice addition. I think that went through too.

A Kwik Star would be really nice there. There really aren't any in that part of West Des Moines.

Yeah, the kwik star site plan was approved by wdm city council a few weeks ago and it looks like kwik trip took ownership of the land this month, so that looks like its a go.

Next up as far as the general area around the mall might be getting that 'hotel' to the south redeveloped, maybe the corner store along with it- I can't imagine that lasts very long once Kwik Star comes in.

This seems more indicative of offensive strategy versus individual player skill sets. I saw pretty much no movement off the ball from our WBB team. Much less cuts to the basket.

Our men’s team moved much more without the ball/ cut to the basket, even if our half court offense leaved a bit to be desired.

The guy that owns the corner store was crying about the redevelopment a couple months. That place will be done.

Could be. But Kelsey Joens shot around 73 percent of her shots from 3 at both Iowa State and Villanova. So could be ISU offense was designed to leave space for Audi in paint, but maybe CBF was focused on recruiting primarily spot up shooters vs. women who could also dribble drive.

Yeah, i found that a little funny, trying to act like he was raising a concern about traffic at that intersection- an intersection that has a lot less traffic than it did 20 years ago with how far the mall has fallen.
