Assistant Coaches

It was interesting to hear Bruns say with extreme confidence that Roehl plans to install a clone of the Detroit Lions/modern Pro Style offense next year that would likely operate primarily from under center. Here is AI's overview of it:

In the Iowa State version of the Detroit system, Hansen and Sama substitute Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. I believe Gibbs has like 1150 yards on 200 carries and Montgomery has about 650 yards on a 136 carries.

Has there been any confirmation on Bibbs, Banks, and P. Menage? I’ve also heard that Pat Cashmore is coming but having seen confirmation anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if some out of those four fill out the staff but haven’t seen confirmation on any of them individually.

If Menge is coming, it’s not as S’s coach. That’s Watson.

I’d be kind of shocked if P. Menage, Banks, and Watson are all on staff. And I’d be surprised if we have 5 defensive assistants instead of 4 and a special teams coordinator. That’s why I asked if any of them individually had been confirmed.

All three are on staff. Maybe P. Menge moves to ST?

What could be confusing things is NCAA removed the restriction of only allowing 11 on-field coaches. Teams can have unlimited on-field coaches.

But there is still restriction of 11 off-campus recruiters who must also be on-campus coaches.

So it might be some guys rumored to be on staff won't recruit off-campus?

I'm sure there are some great coaches who'd rather not travel & recruit.

They last bullet is the best. It won't be a perfect clone because they will adapt it to fit Iowa State's personnel.

Gotta think Brahmer and Burkle at least consider staying based on this.

I think Burkle will stay since he's from Iowa but getting Brahmer is going to be harder because I think its to good of an opportunity at PSU. If Brahmer leaves it's a great opportunity for Burkle to shine.
