Kid #1 is a student at Mayo in Scottsdale and we had Thanksgiving there. Sure does seem like it'd be a nice place to live! Love Colorado but it's expensive and sick of winter! Do you love it?

I am a snowbird in the Tucson area and really enjoy Tucson. Tucson is considerably smaller than Phoenix, but large enough to have plenty of things to do. Tucson's population is 500k and Pima County's population is 1M. Tucson is cooler in the summer than Phoenix. Housing prices in Tucson are lower than Phoenix and the Tucson traffic is manageable.

We'll have to check out Tucson as well. My wife's grandparents used to have a place down there. Hoped they'd leave it to us but they sold it instead!

I've lived in Phoenix for 28 years. The weather is great and I don't miss winter, although the summer heat can be brutal. If you still have kids in school, I'd maybe wait until they graduate HS. Education is a very low priority and the state is always at the bottom nationally. Your attitude toward the state may also depend on your political views. There are a lot of people very, very far right in the state. I won't go into details here because I don't want the thread to get moved to the cave. Honestly, I probably won't ever leave the state unless our children all move away as adults, but it wouldn't be the first place I'd choose to live. Like all places, there are pros and cons of living here.
