As I approach my mid 30's, I have definitely noticed a decrease in the quality of my vision, particularly in one eye. I have basic insurance coverage through the company I work so I want to get checked out. Any recommendations on a good eye dr in the Ankeny area?

I go to 20 Twenty EyeCare right next to Main Street Café near the new HyVee. The doctor just opened at this location and was with Target. Her name is Dr. Domino and is very nice and also a Cyclone fan. Her staff is really helpful as well. She is also the only eye doctor I have been to so I can't compare to anyone else.

Eyecare Associates of Ankeny is good. Very thorough in their exams. Knowledgeable staff for selecting and fitting glasses, if you choose to buy there. They will be more expensive than going to Wal-Mart or Target for your glasses, but you get what you pay for in terms of service.

Not in Ankeny, but I highly recommend Huxley Vision Clinic. Great doctor, great staff - won't over complicate your prescription. Great selection of frames, including sunglasses. Located at 303 South US Hwy 69, Suite A.

I have an appointment for Ankeny vision clinic. The appointment will be about $100 if I remember correctly which was $50 cheaper then what I had been paying elsewhere. Not sure of the quality of service though.

Eyemart has the glasses for me (great styles at a place I can see). Eyemart does contacts too, it just depends on your point of view!

If you are young with normal vision issues, the place probably doesn't matter. They can all fit you for contacts/glasses.

As you get older, it's probably more important to go to an opthamologist vs an optometrist.

Nope, if you go to an ophthalmologist you barely see the doctor and have techs do most of the tests. An optometrist will spend more time with you and if you have a reason for referral they will do so.
