Alcohol vs Weed

My situation is unique as I used to live in Colorado and my best friend still lives there. He gets me outrageously low priced gummies ($50 for 20 gummies that are 50 mg of THC each) so I buy enough to last me a long time. I still have a few months worth from last summer's purchase. I visit CO a lot on vacation so it's always easy to cross paths with him.

IM pretty much the same. I have about 15 things of gummies right now. So I honestly have at the very minimum a 6 month supply. However, I do have friends and I share when they come over. So I usually get more even if I don't need more when I go to Colorado to climb or Illinois for something.

I told all the soccer parents that I was going to the weed store and at first they looked at me funny. Then I educated them on weed and how I think it's better for you than alcohol and now they all want to either go or pick them up some. The more it's normalized like it is in Colorado, the more likely it is that the last of the holdouts keeping it illegal will have to bend to the masses.

Seriously, the stigma with pot is probably because it was/still is illegal (many States). Some of us are having a legitimate conversation about its benefits. I know I am probably not as good as you but I personally am worried about my alcohol consumption (not anywhere near alcoholic levels) which is legal. That's probably not your cup of tea/drink either.

I wish maybe I didn't have to rely on alcohol but it is kind of a regular thing with me now. Looking for alternatives, safely. Don't really see a reason it (pot) shouldn't be legal thruout the country now. I know the discussion will cause varied opinions.

I'll be the elephant tin the room...good cross section of posters here. I wouldn't mind using cannabis again in order to diminish my desire/need for beer/alcohol. Haven't used for 30+ years. How does one get it when one lives in an "illegal" State, ie, MO.

Missouri like Iowa, I think, as of now only has medicinal marijuana.

It is really easy to get a medical card in MO. Had a 10 minute virtual consult with a licensed physician and then paid $200 to have them file it with the gov for me. Took about a month to get the card. I don't know where you are located in MO, but in KC there are a handful of dispensaries nearby that I can access easily. Happy to answer any questions if you want more info!

I for example, had no idea there were other forms of pot now, other than smoking. So I've been reading a little about that. I did cross a form, from a supplier, to apply for a medical card. I may get around to trying that soon, not sure yet. Otherwise I've got a Doctors appt. in a couple of months I think.

I agree. I also think it hurts the effort of the people who want to legalize it when the message changes frequently. For a long time it was "it's medicinal so let someone use it with a prescription." Many legislatures were able to be convinced. Then it basically became a joke to get a medicinal card, and the cry was "just go ahead and legalize it for recreational uses and tax the crap out of it." Some states have done that. Now if the message is "the taxes are too high." it's going to continue to make it difficult to change the minds of people who might have been convinced that legalization is not a bad idea.

If the goal posts are moved too many times people will stop listening to the arguments all together.

Ohio was all set to legalize back in 2015. Then some ******** started a campaign against it because the state would get to pick the suppliers. It worked and it narrowly lost. People thought the state was going to trend purple-blue so even though they were in favor of legalization, voted against it. Then Trump happened and the state took a hard right turn. Probably will never get back on the ballot for decades.

As far as taxes go, yes that will definitely be coming down at some point after it’s legalized nationwide. Once everyone’s used to the idea that it’s legalized, how is anyone going to be able to justify taxing at such a higher rate compared to alcohol and nicotine? There is no logical justification. Right now the pro legalization crowd is touting the high tax for politicians to change their minds on legalization, but once that battle is won, the goal posts most definitely will move.

My left hip was 11 years old on 4-30. My right hip will be 6 on 8-28. Both surgeries at UIHC.

11 years ago, a Xanax when leaving Muskieville before check in. A two night stay and, after I showed competent movement, released with enough oxycontin to cover a semester tuition at I State.

6 years ago, no Xanax pre-op, and sent home with some junior hydrocodone.

Both times took one day of pain med's at home and had a bushel leftover.

Enough left over to become an addict, if predisposed, or make some $$$$ if an evil human.

Alcohol is better for social situations and is more socially acceptable.
Weed is better for everything else.

Especially now with the vape carts. You can go around smoking weed in public and no one knows its not just a nicotine vape pen.

Im mostly a weekend partier with all the family/job time constraints. A couple fingers of bourbon at night during the week to wind down the day. The weekends I mix and match booze/weed depending on the situation.

I tried out some shroom chocolates when the wife and kids were out of town recently. Its been a good 20yr since Ive dabbled in that world and wow was it fun.

Do they make a bacon flavor?
