515 for sale

I’ve also heard that Exile plans to open a new location inside the Kettlestone Social food hall and entertainment space coming to Waukee.

And Big Grove is planning to open another location in Chicago.

I listened to the "Brewed in Iowa" podcast on 515 Brewing and didn't even realize they had been successfully purchased and set to re-open. They interviewed the new head brewer, and it sounds pretty promising. The brewer and his description of the new owners and their vision seems like it could have a chance to make a go of it.

The location is kind of a bummer for me personally, as for an out-of-towner it's really out of the way compared to other options. But hey, given the chance I will surely give them a try. The brewer has a good vision of making some quality beers that fill more of a spectrum than just IPAs, lagers and stouts.

In today's current market, this will be key.

It's like 3 minutes off of I-235, that's hard to get to? I suppose if you just stay on 80/35, but 235 isn't THAT far out of the way if just passing thru IMO.

515 was, and still is, getting boned by the greenbelt trail being closed at i35

no way to get there on the bike path from west of 141st street

You might be correct. I probably took the wrong way there the first time I visited, came from the West. I do remember that it's in an industrial/commercial district with not much else going on nearby. Kind of a sneaky location. However other breweries have made this kind of location work in other cities.

If they bring a selection of unique beers that are additive to the beer scene, I'll definitely make a point to stop in and try them out.

The brewer also said they plan to have a food truck offering 'any time the doors are open' to add to the full-service experience, which will be a great touch.

My biggest issue has been that the Windsor Hts PD really keeps an eye out on University.
Again, technically of you arent doing anything wrong youre fine but its a lot like driving thru Huxley: there is a known heavy presence.
