I don't know what people are complaining about. We shot 24% which is an improvement over the last two games.

That's a good point. I was meaning we could go to high pressure D where we deny passing lanes and pick up the pressure beyond the half court line throughout the entire game, not just in selected moments, to try to get as many transition points as possible. I don't think we're desperate enough to do that yet, but if other teams start packing it in and we can't score from the perimeter, then we may have to resort to something like that.We had 15 steals, how many do you expect? We can't shoot, its as simple as that.
I think you need to pump the breaks a bit. We just lost in a tight game to Michigan who shot very well and we had a chance to change the outcome of the game if you make your FT's down the stretch and get a call here or there. The shooting may come, it might not, but the thing that this team doesn't lack is competitiveness and toughness. We could've rolled over and lost this game but we kept fighting and made it a game at the end. Some of these will start to go our way but none of us should throw this season away already. We've lost by a combined 13 points to two NCAA tournament teams. We have plenty of opportunities ahead of us to figure things out, starting tomorrow and Friday.
I actually think we play well pushing the ball, especially with Halliburton in the open court. We've shown we can score with our opponents, but can we defend them enough to not allow them to get to 80? That'll be the question. Michigan hit some big shots that if missed, would've changed the landscape of the game, just like Oregon State did against us. So what can we do to fix that? That's up to Steve Prohm and the staff. It is a good idea to temper expectations however. It is a group of guys that plays hard, but unlike some other teams in the last 10 years is not overly skilled. You are never going to make all your FT's so to expect them to make all of them isn't realistic to a group of guys who aren't great shooters anyway.
It's just a really awkward assortment of players that right now don't fit together very well, they might gel some, but they might not as well. My guess is, we just have to play slower this year and keep the score in the 60's. Not going to win many games giving up 80 with this group.
It's not bad, they just going to have to win differently than we are accustomed to here if they are going to win at all. Might actually be a good thing, Prohm might be more suited to a more half court game anyway. I know he says he wants to push it, but he might be better off playing slow.

Correct, however last year Halliburton shot over 40%, Bolton around 35%, Mike Jacobson around 34%. We have guys that are okay three point shooters but we haven't made them so far this year. But let's be fair, we've played 5 games. 5. I've seen so many threes of ours this year hover around in the rim and fall out. Every player and sometimes teams go through funks and slumps throughout a year, especially shooting the ball and I think that we might just be rubbing off onto each other. I think we have guys that are almost wishing these shots instead of shooting them with confidence.I mean, yeah I'll try to remain optimistic, but poor shooting teams usually don't fair too well. The past couple years we've always had a shooter or two hovering around 40%. We don't have anyone even close to that this year. I'm not a sky is falling person, I'm just calling a spade a spade. This team lacks knock down shooters, which is something most of us assumed would be a knock on this team. They're definitely going to have to find other ways to win, but they're making it easy for defenses to sag.
I am confused at the lack of minutes for Tre Jackson. He was very solid in his first game and hit a big 3 against OSU. Ever since that, he basically lost his spot in the rotation. We complain all the time about our 3-point shooting while our best shooter plays 7 minutes?
Tre missed about two rotations on the defensive end that ending up costing us two easy buckets. You could see Halliburton was frustrated at that point and this was at the time of the game Michigan was making a run. I think Tre is going to come along nicely but this was just a game where the rotations were just not making their way to him.We spent three weekends at the Cap City League games and thought Tre would be a significant offensive contributor this year. Hopefully, he will become a threat as time goes on.
I think everyone who saw him thought that too. I don’t think he’s been utilized right/enough. When he goes in, it seems like he’s bringing the ball up which is taking away one of his biggest strengths and that’s being a catch and shoot guy. Im actually really annoyed that he’s not getting opportunity that I think he deserves. He’s our best shooter and I’m not changing my mind on that.We spent three weekends at the Cap City League games and thought Tre would be a significant offensive contributor this year. Hopefully, he will become a threat as time goes on.
But here’s the thing, everyone makes mistakes on defense. Tre didn’t give up 83 points.Tre missed about two rotations on the defensive end that ending up costing us two easy buckets. Yes I understand that, but a lot of times those things happen within the flow of the game. I believe 2 of Tre's first 3 or 4 possessions there was something he missed on the defensive end of the ball. When a young guy does that and there are other guards that can take his spot, coaches will likely pull him and explain what he did wrong or right. I also think right when we pulled Tre we started to do some things better and that's why he didn't come back in. We were in a rhythm. I wouldn't read too much into it, it happens. But here’s the thing, everyone makes mistakes on defense. Tre didn’t give up 83 points.
And will be pretty typical of the entire year. Get used to it and hope they guard like a *****.I don't know what people are complaining about. We shot 24% which is an improvement over the last two games.
Shame on you. CCL is for entertainment purposes only. I'm not writing him off or anything. We spent three weekends at the Cap City League games and thought Tre would be a significant offensive contributor this year. Hopefully, he will become a threat as time goes on.
I just don’t understand why some players are allowed to play through defensive mistakes but others aren’t. We are so bad offensively that I think Tre needs to be given a real chance to stay on the floor. We only have 1 guard right now that has proven he should play over 25 minutes per game. There’s going to be a game where Tre hits 3-4 big threes for us if you play him. Can’t expect him to do anything positive in 7 minutes. I just don’t see him as our 9th man like he’s been the last 3 games.Yes I understand that, but a lot of times those things happen within the flow of the game. Which they don’t. 80 against Oregon State, 83 against Michigan State. And will be pretty typical of the entire year. Get used to it and hope they guard like a *****.
