We aren't that far removed from scoring 0 or 1 point at the NCAA Tournament the year before we hired Dresser. This year was tough, but hopefully we have better health/fewer injuries and next year will be more like 2024. We have very good guys coming back.

That was tongue in cheek.
KJ finished: 3, 20, 35, 11, 12, 14, 12, 57 in 8 seasons at Nationals.
KD has finished: 45, 16, 13, 17, 11, 4. 27 in 7 seasons at Nationals.
KJ average finish: 20th place.
KD average finish: 19th place.

I am a big fan of Dresser and what he's done so far, but the next two years are going to be narrative defining years in terms of "was 4th a blip or was 27th a blip".
I agree. We shouldn’t overreact to either one imo. The trajectory is clearly better than what we had before. If they’re outside the top 15 again next year, I’ll join the chorus of questions. It’s too soon to do it right now.

The truth is we have one of the best fan bases in the country and have had an average team for almost 2 decades. 2 top 5 finishes in the past 15 seasons with the 2 coaching staffs.
5 top 15 finishes with KJ, 1 top 10 finish. 3 top 15 finishes with 7 seasons with KD, 1 top 10 finish. So inheriting a bad team isn't really the problem. This is the transfer portal era as well and our transfers have amounted to zero AA's unless I'm forgetting someone. I don't really consider AE a transfer portal guy.

Ankeny, IA.
Relative to expected points, only Virginia Tech had a worse NCAA tourney than ISU.

Injuries aside, that’s very disappointing.

Hope for much better results in 2026.

KJ inherited a good team. Dresser inherited the opposite.
I agree with this statement. However, I must point out how we were all told by fans here that the ISU program was gutted when KJ took over and fans on this very board were adamant that KJ was a better coach than Cael for several years.
