Our driveway is really pitted and it's time to be replaced. It is clear in the last 10 years that the sidewalk and driveway approach was replaced but they never did the portion leading to my garage.

It is $3,200 to redo from the sidewalk to my garage and $5,200 to do the whole thing to the street. I would like to just redo the whole thing but the driveway approach is probably at 85% "good".

should I spring for the extra 2,000 bucks for the sidewalk and approach replacement to make it all look the same or should I save the money and just do the portion in front of my garage?

Is sidewalk standard distance to curb or is it quite a bit further back?

The approach is at a slight incline with angles on each side near the street, 12 feet deep with a 4' sidewalk (16' total)

The driveway is about 22' wide.

30' to sidewalk
4' of sidewalk
12' of approach

Gotchya. So it's fair in comparison because there is more labor with that type of pour vs the rest.

Probably depends on your disposable income TBH.

If it's not cracked (severely), heaved, crumbling then I wouldn't replace it. If you're a regular winter salt user, your next driveway will look the same in short order.

Not unless it was cracked so bad I couldn't drive one it or it had sunk. Who cares about pitted concrete.

Doesn’t look bad it enough to replace, but when you do it’s best to do everything at once. No half measures.

Obviously i do. It looks bad, it heaves near my garage, and my kids play out there all summer.

Structurally it looks ok. You could probably have it resurfaced and save some cash.

It looks fine to me, I have seen nearly new driveways look worse.

Based on your picture I don't see any cracking or settling that would indicate structural issues, so I think you're fine.

I think I'll go with just the $3200 option. Woulde get us a nice drive and save some money. TBH I'm surprised how many people on here say it looks fine.

I would get the resurface and that may even the time out so you can do it all at once on the next go.

Like most have said, the existing concrete looks fine. But if the government check is burning a hole in your pocket I guess you go for it. Good luck.

I agree with OP. Replace the driveway but keep the approach. I did that 2 years ago. As time passes it starts to blend together anyway.
