***2026 NCAA WBB Tournament Thread***

The dust up kind of looked/felt like what has been speculated about the WNBA trying to get ratings.

Agree. The only thing that I would add is the Geno clearly instigated the confrontation.
I would agree neither coach handled it well. Gino I believe was pissed because he lost and was not happy about the way the game was called. Dawn was taken back by his comments but instead of just smiling and walked on she fired back.

Geno was figuring this tourney would be nothing more than a coronation for his team. Sore loser and just an arrogant doosh. Staley didn't respond perfectly either but it was clear she was pretty shocked at his action.

The refs just didn’t want to, or were too timid to, call fouls in the UConn-S Carolina game.
I agree with Marsha Frese:

@CoachFrese

“Fans of WBB are missing the elite skill sets of some of our biggest stars b/c of the way we are allowing physicality to be the norm.”

This is just a full circle back to 2006-10, a la those Gary Blair A&M teams and the like.

When scoring in the 70s felt like an outlier, 60s would still get you a bunch of wins, and scoring in the 50s in an NCAA tourney game meant you were still in it.

Tbf I think most would be. When you dish it, gotta take it too. He went off about her at the fourth Q beginning, clearly she was in his head. Agree on feeling like it’d be a coronation - easy to be a “good sport” when you beat down teams by 35 but less so when someone plays tougher than you. Laughable that UConn would ever complain about a bad whistle against them.

It will be interesting to see how the game is called today.
If all the pushing, shoving and impeding the ball handler is allowed again, that favors South Carolina.
