That was funny as hell looking but unless his arm landed on his helmet, he didn't even hit him.

Yeah, some of them blue-skinned WR from Pandora!Kwesi just needs to draft some WRs who are 11 feet tall, and Darnold will hit ‘em right in the numbers
This definitely made me laugh, but this does point at the deficiencies of KOC. Seems every route in that guys playbook is 15+, unless they need to get 7, then it's a 3 yarder. Darnold was bad for sure, but it didn't seem like the Vikings were willing to try and run some shorter/quicker routs to just get the ball out of Darnold's hand.I hope the Vikings gave Darnold the game ball. Since he never wanted to get rid of it.
They still have the option of signing Daniel Jones to a one year deal (unless someone else signs him) and use him just like they planned to do with Darnold. The Vikes may very well hand the keys to JJ, but do they let a 14 win QB walk with no return now?

Now the debate of let Darnold walk vs. sign him to a moderate contract begins. Moderate money for me would be considerably less than $35m/yr. Will be interesting to see if the Vikes decide to offer Sam anything and if so how much. The tag and trade option appears to be over.Vikings were a 10 win level team that won 14 games by a combination of a softer than average schedule and winning several close games. If they had won 10 games the results in the last two games, particularly when combined with the offensive line injuries piling up, wouldn't have been that surprising.
This team wasn't making the Super Bowl anyway so in the long term losing these two games like they did is probably good so they don't make the mistake of giving Darnold a big contract. If they give him a short term contract for moderate money (sub $35m/yr) so that he and JJ are there next year I won't see anything wrong with that. If JJ doesn't pan out you've got a QB you know you can win with and if JJ does pan out its easy to transition to him.
$10m/yr is experienced backup QB money and $35m/yr is starting QB money when the team isn't giving a big long term contract but thinks you'll start (Baker Mayfield as an example). They would need to pay him somewhere between those two goalposts and I would guess its a lot closer to that $35 number, but its possible if he wants to stay it could be in the $20s somewhere. Now the debate of let Darnold walk vs. sign him to a moderate contract begins. I think you just sign whichever is cheaper and shorter between him and Daniel Jones. Money is the most important object for this team right now. Without good drafting and a good wealth of draft picks, they're retooling positions yearly based on FAs -- gotta have dollars to do that and still compete.$10m/yr is experienced backup QB money and $35m/yr is starting QB money when the team isn't giving a big long term contract but thinks you'll start (Baker Mayfield as an example). Darnold is to some extent an know quantity under O'Connell so he definitely should have more value than Daniel Jones. How much a Darnold & JJ tandem vs. Jones & JJ tandem is worth is certainly open to debate. If Jones is willing to sign something like a 1 year $10m contract like Darnold did last year then yeah, you go with that. But if they want anything similar to each other then you definitely go with Darnold.I think you just sign whichever is cheaper and shorter between him and Daniel Jones. That said, I'd like to know what they have with JJM. If he's not the guy, that's just another thing you still have to resolve via draft. Sooner is better in that regard.
If those two want something similar, it's likely that cost is too high for MIN to justify. I expect that to not really be a problem for Jones, though, unless there's a bigger market for him than there appears to be.... Which would be weird, since MIN plucked him up for nothing to begin with.Darnold is to some extent an know quantity under O'Connell so he definitely should have more value than Daniel Jones. That's fine...I'm just asking for a peg or two...not knocking them down 1000 pegs where they usually reside...Lions fans are like ISU fans. Let them enjoy something.
He was releases in November. Bad teams aren't looking for a QB in November unless they literally have nobody to play the position and good teams are usually in good shape at the position and would be like the Vikings, just signing a guy for depth at the veteran minimum to be on the practice squad. Him ending up with the Vikings likely had more to do with him wanting to work with O'Connell for a few months than about money. He made $36m last year, unless there is literally no market for him, he's not taking less than $10m-$15m and will likely get more with his level of experience and some reasonable stats as an NFL starter. If those two want something similar, it's likely that cost is too high for MIN to justify.
