***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

Great mature answer by Kyler. Not so great on JJ’s part. Pretty obvious McCarthy has some maturing to do still mentally.

They discussed this on KFAN this morning. Ben Leber made a good point that McCarthy should give a feisty answer. He was drafted to be the franchise QB and it's clear the staff wants to go in a different direction. So do you lay on your back and surrender or do you have a chip on your shoulder and try to prove people wrong? So Ben was saying it was good to see some of this fight from McCarthy

Ahhh.... JJ McCarthy. The crown jewel in the Kwesi book of drafts.

I don't really buy that. You don't get feisty about your own teammate, and you don't lay down and die. You simply act like a newer guy around a vet who's excited to learn from them and improve your own craft. JJM merely sounds like sour grapes instead of someone with an edge to prove, like he's getting scared of the comp instead of embracing it.

Different ways to view it. I personally would expect a person to be angry someone else is being brought in to do my job

A leader is angry and has a chip in his shoulder, but he says the right things.

Nothing wrong with saying they are both competitors and fighting for the job. That they’ll keep pushing each other, and whatever role we both end with we will be the best at it we can be.

The way that was answered sounded like a petulant little passive aggressive child. Answering questions with anger doesn’t prove ****.

I have a hard time seeing it as anything more than continuation of his NINE character from last season. He hasn't done nearly enough on the field to back that up yet. Not even close.

Is this a cluster **** already?

We always knew it would be. Kyler's athleticism is impossible to show in OTAs with no pads on. The best possible option (as unlikely as it is) is that JJ wins this **** show. But instead its looking like another 8-9 win season where we can't fix anything in 27'.

McCarthy isn’t winning this unless Murray gets hurt, which is a very distinct possibility.

At his best Murray is a Pro Bowler. At his worst he was below average but playing on pretty disfunctional teams.

McCarthy had about 4-5 good quarters surrounded by a bunch of quarters of really bad QB play on an otherwise functional team.

Yeah. It's definitely not in question which of the two QBs has more talent and more proven skill. For Murray, it's a matter of getting back to where he previously proved he could be. For JJM, it's proving he can do it at a high level at all.
