MLB: ***2026 Minnesota Twins***

Just glanced at the box score from the ASG Tuesday night. Holy cow, either I am really out of touch with baseball these days, or they really watered these rosters down. I was honestly surprised Willi made it over other Twins, and surprised to see so many Royals players, seemed a bit strange relative to their record. So many names I had never even heard of, although all seem to be having decent seasons thus far upon researching them a bit.

Not surprised at Willi. You can argue that he was the most valuable Twin in the first half. The flexibility he gives the Twins is awesome and his 119 OPS+ is outstanding for a utility player. Gleeman and the Geek pointed out that he gives the Twins nine every day position players, which gives Rocco the ability to put the best hitters out there depending on who they are facing.

Correa is injured again and he would have been the second. On the position player side it's hard to argue for anyone above Castro and Correa. Joe Ryan might have been deserving as a pitcher but the pitchers taken have arguable cases over him. Griffin Jax eould be a worthy relief pitcher pick but it's very hard for non closers to get that selection.

He’s not going anywhere. He would have been gone if he was going to be by now.
It would take an absolute collapse out of the break. Twins aren't going to trade a major league player for prospects while in contention for a wild card berth.

I get it, just seems odd to select any type of utility player for the ASG. When I think all- star I think eye popping offensive stats, not defensive flexibility. Oh well, happy he represented the twins regardless

The Kikuchi trade rumors are still targeting the Twins. Not sure it’s the Twins coaching staff who can turn around his current dismal numbers.

We all know the Twins probably won't make a move of any consequence at the deadline, but we can dream big, right? They aren't going to increase payroll significantly

I was reading the Yankees are desperate for bullpen help needing a righty and a lefty. It may go counter to the Twins needs, but shipping them Thielbar free's up about $1M this year. Teams are paying a heavy price for relievers as well, so maybe the Twins could get a decent prospect.

Christian Vazquez has been the Twins best catcher by FAR in July, but his contract is huge this year and next. If the Twins need to cut payroll, I think he's a candidate. He's likely to regress some and Jeffers isn't awful. Are the Twins okay with Camargo and Williams as backup options? Is there a glove only free agent available for cheap? Would save about $4M this year and $10M next year.

Can the Twins bump up the prospect package and include Kyle Farmer in any deal?

Similar question for Manuel Margot. He's not awful, and does well against LHP, but you do have plenty of CF options, especially with Buxton remaining healthy. Do you free up some money by moving him?

What about Kepler? He's one of my favorite Twins of all time and I've followed him since they signed him, so I'd be really sad to see him leave.

My issue is that they will piss around too long if it isn’t working if they get him. They aren’t going to make any kind of big splash, this we know as fact.

Are his numbers that bad? He's still striking out a ton of guys and walking fewer than normal. His FIP way lower than his ERA, so it seems like he's had some bad luck.

It'll probably take a lot to get him, even for just one year. I'd headline a package with Keaschall, though.

Edit: His last 3 outings have been brutal. That might be a red flag.

Roll the dice with your young guns. Theres very little chance of this turning out well.

It was not that difficult of a call in my opinion, assuming they have to replace Correa with a Twin. Castro has been about the only guy consistently in the lineup, and has been the best offensive player aside from Correa, Miranda and Buxton. Excluding Royce since he's only played 27 games.

So you've got a guy that plays high value defensive positions that is the most reliable guy that's healthy on a playoff contender, and leads that team in hits, runs, extra base hits and SB. He doesn't scream all-star, but that has been the case for a lot of guys over the years to have every team represented.

I, too, would be surprised to see the Twins do much, if anything. Don’t know if there’s a difference maker out there, but if there is a LH reliever out there— Margot, and then Kepler might be the guys getting traded.

If Ober can continue this run he’s on, even if it lets up a little, I feel a hell of a lot better about the rotation come playoff time. Lopez seems to be getting right too.

Lopez is the key. He's gotta be an ace in the playoffs or the Twins are toast.

I love Ober. What a steal they got in him.

Was at the game vs. the Phils when Ober pitched. After giving up an absolute bomb by Harper, Ober was money and just got out of every jam. In a league full of guys throwing around and over 100, it was pretty wild seeing a 6'8" dude throwing 91 mph fastballs and getting guys out consistently.

Actually with Ranger Suarez going for the Phils it was something of a throwback game with a bunch of 90-92 mph fastballs and both guys getting weak contact through movement and location.
