1969 was my first game. Yankees at the Met. 3 game sweep. A delightful time.,me too. It was my first Twins game. I think Roy Smalley played that day?
I’m sure I’ve listened to Herb Carneal, but I didn’t remember him by name… had to look him up. Definitely do not remember Halsey Hall (I was born in 1984).Remember Halsey Hall and Herb Carneal? I am old.
I saw a game there against the Angels in 1976. Frank Tanana pitched for the Angels and Bobby Bonds hit a home run during the game, but the Twins pulled it out. I can't remember who pitched for the Twins, but I know they had Rod Carew, Larry Hisle, Lyman Bostock, Butch Wyneger, Roy Smalley, Mike Cubbage, Danny Ford, Steve Braun, Etc. Dave Goltz might have been the pitcher that day, but not sure.I remember going to the old met in bloomington.
After the last out today I took a moment to look a away from my 23 year old die hard Twins fan son because I had tears in my eyes. When I finally looked back at him he had tears in his eyes too. Guess I raised him right.I’m seriously so happy. Had to listen to the last hour of it on my wireless speaker coaching little kids flag football. When Duran came in, I told the other coach, “you’re in dude. I need a minute.” And sat there in the grass listening to them do it. I’ve been a twins fan since I could breath and it was my first sports love. I seriously almost shed a tear. Go Twins, boys. The god damn streak is over.
I feel this in my bones. After the last out today I took a moment to look an away from my 23 year old die hard Twins fan son because I had tears in my eyes. When I finally looked back at him he had tears in his eyes too. Guess I raised him right.
FreakyHopefully, it's against Berrios. That'd be embarrassing.
I came up as a kid with Gordon and Carneal on the radio. I watched the 87 series but don’t remember it much at all. I definitely remember 91.Remember Halsey Hall and Herb Carneal? I am old.
Gordon and Carneal were the best. Seems like just yesterday those two were still calling games.I came up as a kid with Gordon and Carneal on the radio. I watched the 87 series but don’t remember it much at all. I definitely remember 91.
Holy crap, I looked it up and saw that they were still doing games together until 2006.
1974 for me....Harmon Killebrew Day at the Met against Brooks Robinson and the Orioles! Hoping this team can duplicate the 1987 and 1991 playoff runs, but am glad they have the monkey off their backs as a franchise!I saw a game there against the Angels in 1976. The year before Bostock and Ford finished third and fourth in rookie of the year voting behind Fred Lynn and Jim Rice. It was a tragedy what happened to Bostock and I often wonder why in the world the Twins would trade him and if he would still be alive if they hadn't. Bostock was a career .311 hitter in only four short seasons.
it was pretty cool that after several years of bad teams how much Gordon was like a kid at Christmas when the Twins broke out in the early 2000s.Gordon and Carneal were the best. Seems like just yesterday those two were still calling games.
And remember...their 2002 playoff appearance was a year or two removed from talk of folding the Twins and Expos organizations completely.it was pretty cool that after several years of bad teams how much Gordon was like a kid at Christmas when the Twins broke out in the early 2000s.
It was about the same time Pete got to finally see some success after all those years at ISU, which was so awesome.
Homer radio guys have a role in the sports experience that is unique and special. Especially the guys that cover teams that aren’t always successful.

Pohlad was just as responsible. He was looking at getting paid more than the franchise was worth at the time.Oh that's right. Selig was hellbent on contracting the Twins. Wonder if he wanted the MN market all for his Brewers.
