I generally think the common term of EDGE is ridiculous. Only thing I can think of if the player is in either position DE or OLD depending on the D&D.
I’ve also heard it termed “on the ball rusher” or “off the ball rusher.”

Both terms are too fancy for football; just like “on the ball LBer” and “off the ball LBer”

Stop trying to pretty it up!!!!

*just like “sweeper” in MLB

I’m off my box now

Way up there
Sanders is a very poor man’s Caleb Williams with a bigger circus around him. He will probably get drafted today, but I don’t understand why people think he will be good in an NFL system. Deion basically said “go out there and play backyard football” the last 4 years. Nothing to mention, he had phenomenal WR to throw to. When the playing field levels off, I don’t see him actually being good.

Edit: 7 years. I forgot Deion was his HS OC for 3 years. Deion has been able to control basically everything about Sheduer’s football life until this moment, and it’s clear what NFL teams thought about Shedeur.
I dont love Dan Orlovsky but he made a good point about Shedeur being tough to scout. The system he played in at Colorado was gimmicky, not much different than the old Texas Tech or Hawaii teams. Something like 3/4 of his pass attempts were less than 5 yards. He dinked and dunked his way to nice numbers but their gameplan was very QB friendly. He was never the sure thing he thought he was, not performing at the combine and not being great in the interviews didnt' help ease any concerns a team might have. For the circus he'll bring you had really better be sure he's a hit.

I imagine a lot of GMs look at Sanders as a me first kind of player and not a team first player.

They might just look at him as not that good of a player.

I'm not sure if 'me first' matters all that much as long as there's wins and fans/viewership.

This should vindicate Orlovsky. He was taking a lot of crap for his very good and accurate take

Shoot at Colorado you don’t even have to be a first rounder to get your jersey retired

Yeah, but, to be fair jersey retirements are for what the athlete did for the school, not what he did or did not accomplishment afterward. Right?

I ain't no fan of the Colorado program, but, geez. . . .

Speaking of old man rants, why did it go from OLB and MLB to Will and Mike?

It’s all about schemes and how teams adjust. Makes it easier to understand why players flip sides based on the way the offense lines up
Wait . . . You mean not all linebackers are named Will and Mike?

Generally yes.

LBers were commonly titled Mike, Will, Sam and Jack in mid 90s. Not sure when the terminology was commonly adapted.

I.e. Mike Singletary was referred to as Middle backer. But we would absolutely be a Mike today.
