Take a drive through Wisconsin, they think the guy with a 6 row 30” is showing off. Several 4 row 36 inchers up there.
lol. Depends what part of the state you are in. There are some large farming operations in the southern part of the state where the fields are bigger.

First soybean plot of the year going in late morning. It’s a bit cold up here for corn. Guessing end of next week it’s going to get nuts

Our corn in central TX is looking fairly well considering it has had very little rain. Its usually 6-8 inches higher by now but its alive and still has good color
I think it shows how much more drought tolerant these hybrids nowadays are. Here in Iowa, we've had some areas of extreme drought that are still yielding pretty well given the rainfall.

Those of us that remember the 1988 crop know. 6 weeks of no rain in the summer left you with 40 bu/ac corn that year. Now, that same spell of weather might still permit 175+ bu/ac.

Started on soybeans today, thought I had enough seed to be a unit and some long for a field... I was wrong. Fortunately we have another field right next to it but still feel pretty stupid.

Not sure what it is about my area in northern Warren county but I swear guys get going sooner than in northern Missouri. Saw the first beans in the ground about March 23rd. Depending on how much rain everyone got last night a lot of guys will be wrapping up by the weekend or early next week is my guess.

I cannot understand my farming family member sometimes. It was like pulling teeth to convince him to plant soybeans Thursday with good soil conditions and temperature. Yet today with slightly tacky soil, cool air and soil temperatures into a cold rain tomorrow he's antsy to plant more.

I've encouraged a couple others to park the corn planter today.

I've got some equipment maintenance and some fence work to do today to keep occupied and not get the itch to plant.

I have some field prep done, but haven't turned a wheel yet with the planters. There's still a lot of NH3 tanks out in the country in my area. We got a good half inch of rain on Wednesday morning but conditions since haven't helped dry things out much. Looks like next weekend before we get back in there, if the forecast holds.

Just put a soy plot in northwest of Ackley, but they missed the rain. Gonna sit for a bit is my guess. Hoping to find somewhere dry in NE Iowa by Tuesday, but I’m 26% done planting

Just a little of the sweet corn we planted 4/9 was spiking today, 4/19 so any field corn planted that day with similar GDDs will also be spiking. 10 days is extremely fast for early April planting!

Was up in NW IA just west of the Spencer area. Saw some fields that looked pretty wet still, some even with a little bit of water standing in some wet spots. Could tell some have planted some must have got it in before storms this week. My BIL has only done tillage but no planting yet while some other distance relatives that farm in the area have planted some beans already. Saw more planters in the field today south of highway 20 than I did north of it on the way home this afternoon.

Most of the corn and some sb in the ground in our area Easter morning. It is drizzling and overcast so it will be “no go” until the sun comes out.
