If there is thread for this already, feel free to merge. Lunardi and Palm both suck at this. But it's funny to see their predictions this far out. Palm today has Houston as a 5 seed. For real.

Ceiling is the overall 1 (tho Duke has such a soft schedule, may not happen), but I really think the floor is a 3-4 seed.

I don't know, depends on how you do your bracketology. If you are saying how you would seed the teams today what do you do with Houston? They are 0-3 in quad 1 games and their best win is.... WVU at home... or UCF on the road? It's not an impressive resume at all from a wins perspective. They've dominated lesser competition so the metrics love them, but at some point they have to have a good win. They have their chance tomorrow. I would say 5 is on the low side but it's not ridiculous for Houston at this moment. Bracket Matrix has them as a 4.

Yeah computers love Houston and love projections but they've yet to really have marquee wins.

Bracketology beyond seed level is a mugs game, especially this early. Even seed level is the weather forecast 3 weeks out.

Palm predicting "Tennessee vs Quinnipiac" in the 2-15 matchup... I'd say he was practicing astrology, but its an insult to astrologers.

Matrix has them as the first four. Palm has them as last five.

Cyclone fans don't want to hear this but it is time to start rooting for Iowa. We need all the quad 1 victories we can get if we want a 1 seed.
No chance I’m rooting for Iowa.

I’m kinda like whatever when it comes to Q1 right now, things will shake out. Why is no one talking about how Duke has very few opps left for Q1 wins?

For the most part yes but these are the ones that are always strongest. Some might not starting their updates yet for the season or may not be doing it anymore but last year these were solid.

  1. Dave Ommen at Bracketville
  2. Lukas Harkins at HeatCheckCBB
  3. Delphi Bracketology
  4. Rocco Miller at Bracketeer
  5. Jonathon Warriner at Making The Madness
  6. Shelby Mast at Bracket WAG (He's dropped in the rankings in recent years so take his with a grain of salt, but I remember him being one of the best when I started this back in mid-2010s. Also, he does daily updates if you're itching for something new.)

I'm not going to freak out because someone has a team 7 spots lower than the consensus. Like I said, it's in the low side.

I've heard plenty of people talk about Dukes weak remaining schedule. Kind of hard to ding them for a schedule they haven't even played yet, and conference scheduling is out of their hands. They played a pretty difficult non-con so they will probably get leeway for the ACC being a train wreck assuming they don't take any bad losses.

My point is you are wringing your hands telling fans to root for Iowa when we have plenty of games left to increase our Q1 wins meanwhile you’re saying meh Duke you can’t blame them for their schedule. Seems strange.

What the hell are you talking about. I don't really care about Duke, you brought them up. I care a lot about ISU getting it's first one seed and every quad 1 win helps. I can see you are in a mood so you can carry on with this if you want but I'm done.

No mood at all. Have a good one.

I would say it’s fine to ding them for lack oh Q1 wins going forward. Is it their fault, no, but that Q1 winning percentage baloney they trotted out last was catering to name schools. You play a hard schedule or you don’t.

Thats fine, but if you're just going by strength of schedule and adding up quad 1 wins it will probably be 4 SEC teams with 1 seeds.

For me, it's more about trying not to root against them than it is trying to root for them. If I can get it to neutral, I've moved a mountain in my mind and heart.
