so, to be clear - a tweaked knee is a season that saw a wrestler take 6th at nationals and he could be considered for a medical RS??
No, it'd be an injury that occurs in the fall that keeps the wrestler out for the season. But there are often times where guys might be healthy enough to compete, but the staffs from the schools decide to hold them out and get the medical and come back stronger the next year

ok so maybe I'm just dense - where would the possibility of Evan getting a medical come from over the last 2 seasons as stated in a prior post
Jacob has used a medical, I think it's more likely Evan would try to get a medical and get back on the same eligibility timeline as Jacob

not trying to be argumentative just attempting to understand the ins and outs

I’m saying that if Evan were to tweak something this fall and Reneiri has eligibility, they might work to get Evan a medical. Nothing from past 2 years, purely hypothetical

What are the odds for Ortega actually getting a year of eligibility? To me ono was a for sure being that he was so young but with Ortega being quite a bit older I don’t see the NCAA granting him a year.
I bird told me the ncaa is dragging their feet on it. Sounds like there might be some real movement here soon to get a firm answer. Stay tuned

I would think he’ll get a year at least. If ono got one and they denied Ortega a couple years ago I just don’t see how the can deny him 1 now even though he’s older. The precedent has clearly changed.

Agreed, and I’ve brought this up before but international athletes are nothing new in college Olympic sports. Track and field and swimming is littered with athletes from other countries. So there are data points out there

NCAA eligibility has nothing to do with age? It has to do with when you become a full-time student. I’m sure it gets murky for international students especially if the school they attend is more like JuCo college or is not a University.

Ono has trained/competed for three years at a Japan University. That is why he is only getting one year.

My guess is the NCAA used a rule that has changed or has been clarified since the original decision.

I guess that’s what I should have started with him being in his mid 30s trying to and not really knowing what he did for schooling in his own country.

How long have Ortega and Diversent been in the room practicing folkstyle now? I lose track of how long these guys have been around
Ortega has been in the room for awhile now. I believe he came in sometime after Covid if I’m not mistaken and has been practicing a lot of folk style since he got here. @stuclone should have a lot more insight on this.
