***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

You are not throwing in the towel, you get the players to circle around the idea he left us, he could have stayed and chose not too. Kiffin quit on his team, not the other way around. The players are all going to do what is best for them money wise. You let him coach, is he going to refuse to take his former players with him to LSU? No, he is taking the better players that will go whether he is the coach for the play off game or not.
Except we've seen time and again that on the whole, players play for coaches, not schools. Sure, some of them might buy the school's "he quit on us" line, but definitely not all. And for the seniors, do they really care where Kiffin coaches next year? Wouldn't they just want to do whatever they could to win now? How does the school's decision to be petty benefit them at all?

They're losing everybody anyway.
All the more reason to give yourself the best chance you can to win this year. If you're going to be angry and bitter no matter what, at least do your best to get the hardware. A natty sure would soothe a whole lot of butthurt.

It's not being petty, why should Kiffin get to do what is best for him, but then the school he left also do the same thing? You keep thinking its a lost cause if he is not on the sidelines, I disagree, use the motivation of him leaving and keep them players focus. I am sure the team has someone that call call the offense for a game or two. Winning a national championship is not a sure thing, hell they are just as likely to get beat their first game as win it.

The biggest negative for letting Kiffin coach is that he will need to be tending things for LSU. They are a rival and wish to see Ole Miss lose in this years playoffs so are constantly going to be pulling Kiffin away from the Ole Miss duties. It is truly having two masters.

Just cannot see Campbell taking an SEC job at a place like Arkansas, never coached in the region, so he would have to lean hard on a coach or two that knows the area. That is a lateral move at best in my opinion. He would be better off sticking around for a better job in the B10, good chance Wisconsin comes open next year.

Are their chances to win a national championship better with Kiffin at the helm for the remainder of the season or with him being barred from coaching the team? It's that simple.
We can contort ourselves into all kinds of narratives about what could possibly happen, and what may or may not motivate players, but at the end of the day what would the Vegas odds makers say gave the Rebels the better chance at victory?

We both know the answer would be to have the guy who coached them all year be at the helm.

That doesn't mean that Ole Miss has to abide by that, but if they don't, they can't say that they're prioritizing winning a national title. Because they're not.

A name is definitely more important than the right fit and a guy that's going to win there

That's true but at the same time, it's really tough to go back to the same well that the previous hire came from. That's like the Bulls hiring otz to be their next coach. Sure, it could work but that hire also brings baggage that isn't anyone's fault but is still there regardless.

I think the Florida ad has played this very poorly. At the very least, you gotta think they could have had Franklin had they not been in Lane or bust mode.

The transfer portal is sandwiched between the CFP quarterfinals and championship game.

I would have to think both LSU and Ole Miss would view that as a huge conflict of interest if Kiffin were to leave and therefore neither would allow him to coach.

The Florida fanbase is really, really not handling the potential Sumrall hire well.
I don't get why he was the hot candidate rather than the guy who built it up at Tulane, Willie Fritz.
