***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

Arkansas is swimming in money (Walmart, Tyson, JB Hunt). How on earth are they not able to commit big money?

Most rich people don’t throw away money into college athletics for literally no return other than “I want to see my college team do well.” They got rich (mostly) from being really smart businessmen, not giving money away.

Nothing earth shattering here but a bit of an update on the Oklahoma State search:

"Numerous sources tell FootballScoop that Cowboys officials, with TurnKeyZRG search firm doing the behind-the-scenes work, are deep into the process with multiple offensive-minded candidates and also a Power 4 defensive coordinator. Sources have indicated to FootballScoop that Oklahoma State's pitch to candidates in this cycle has been impressive; the Cowboys' brass are seen per sources as having a better handle, with more resources committed, for the vision for revenue-sharing and NIL than some peers in this coaching cycle such as Arkansas, whom sources told FootballScoop needs to better commit to those components to nail down a hire."
Does Golesh take this one or does he think he can hold out for something better? Florida might be a bridge too far but curious to see where they'd go if they don't snag Kiffin.

Also shameless plug but work buddy of mine put this together, could be a fun way to track the craziness: https://carouselpickem.com/

Not sure how Baylor doesn't move on from Aranda. They get outscored by Arizona 27-0 in the 2nd half today. Sure they are 3-5 in Big12 play, but wins are UCF, Okie State & K-State (1pt).

Interesting that there is so much news on Kiffin and other outside jobs. Are schools like Florida and LSU leaking information like a sieve? Making it near impossible for Kiffin to stay at Ole Miss. If I had to bet, Kiffin will end up at Florida and either Sumrall or Fritz end up at LSU.

It’s possible they can’t afford to move on.
No idea what his buyout is but probably $20M+
That’s a year of revshare plus you might need to pay the new coach’s buyout too

Agree it's possible Aranda's buyout being a consideration.

But most Big12 schools aren't hiring a coach with a big buyout. More likely a G5 head coach or P4 coordinator.

As Baylor I'd be more concerned about falling farther behind Tech, Houston (if they keep Fritz) and TCU in the LH state. Might even throw Okie State if they make a solid hire in the next few weeks.

So.... humor me here, in this hypothetical.

Say Franklin, who had a clause he had to at least attempt to get a new job, to offset his buyout, where any job he takes, PSU would have to pay the difference. Yes I know this didnt happen, and he negotiated a settlement etc.

But hypothetically...

Could he have kept that in his back pocket and went into a new school say VT, and say I will take $1 per year, saving that new school a ton of money that can be used for NIL, facilities etc. Which would then force PSU to pay him his full buyout, for years to come, less the $1, while working at VT. Therefore getting a huge leg up at VT, while still earning a massive paycheck.

I know this probably would never happen, and there is probably language in the contract to prevent this, but just a funny hypothetical that I think would be hilarious, if a coach wanted to be petty and there was no protections in the contract to prevent it.
