***2025-26 CFB Coaching Carousel***

When top teams can’t pull people like Indiana and Vandy’s coach, the times have officially changed.

Coaches are starting to realize they can get paid well, have more control, less booster influence, and overall less BS to worry about at “lesser” schools rather than go to LSU or Florida where you get fired in 3 years if you don’t win 10+ games.

But do we know those coaches were in play for the really big jobs this cycle?

Or did their agents leverage leaks to get their clients more money. In other words, more of the same stuff. Aka most AD's are insecure about their ability to keep their HC.

IMO Penn State's had their guy for weeks. And Kiffin is being Kiffin, but he's always been going to Florida and Sumrall will end up at LSU.

If I was kiffin, I would stay where I am. no sky high expectations, and you have built a great culture. Also, I feel like Ole Miss is in a better place than Florida, and at LSU you will get fired in 3 years

The news of LSU dropping their stance they fired Kelly for cause tells me Brian Kelly has a job. But his new school was hesitant to hire him in case there REALLY was cause to fire him.

IMO Kelly would be a great hire for UCLA. As would Cal or Stanford.

All would pay really well and LSU's new President was in position to exit a mess he didn't create and save his university most of the buyout.

My prediction: Kiffin to LSU, JMU guy to PSU, Sumrall to Auburn, Fisch to Florida. I’m not sure who for Ole Miss and maybe Ryan Grubb for Washington (if that opens up).

Kiffin is an idiot who loves attention. He’s literally never had an exit from a position that wasn’t a complete ********.

Sounds like Kelly may want to be done done and retire with his bag.

It might really be about where Kiffin wants to live the rest of his coaching and retirement years.

Mississippi, Louisiana or Florida.

Maybe, but if he retires- does he get the LSU money? Would be interested what his offset language stipulates.

No but theoretically he could just only interview for the jobs that he's not likely to get (Florida, Ole Miss, Washington)

It’s been years since I've seen Cal on TV. YEARS
It was surprising they fired Wilcox this year.

If you’d tuned in they have a stud freshman QB. Maybe they were going to lose him anyway, but I’d guess this guarantees it.

And for PR/notoriety/selling the program to recruits, etc., average fans like myself keep forgetting Cal is even in a conference.
A year or two ago they were contemplating marketing sports as UC Berkeley.

What is crazy is they were pretending like they didn’t know that many/most people across the country didn’t realize Cal and UC Berkeley were the same school. They absolutely leaned into that confusion going back into the ‘80s.

Cal is in a rough spot having been relegated to the ACC, but people forget the success they’ve had and the potential that’s still there.

There is a lot of talent available.
