MLB: ***2022 MLB SEASON THREAD***

As much as bad calls drive us all nuts - I hope they don’t allow challenges to balls and strikes calls. It would be agonizingly boring. And ultimately it is a judgment cal. Just Let ‘em play.

My first major league game was in those left-field seats in the summer of 1978. One of the hottest days I’ve ever lived through - the guys in the bullpen would spray us with the bullpen hose every few innings, and we kept cheering for more of the fountains because some of the spray would blow over us a little bit. The place has changed a LOT in 44 years.

EDIT: I went to baseball-reference to look it up. Must have been Sunday June 25, as that was an afternoon game against Oakland. I thought I remembered Larry Gura started for KC, and that matches.

EDIT AGAIN: A quick look at the weather history for KC also confirms my memory, as the heat index was above 100 degrees from 2 pm to 6 pm, and about 103 at 3 pm. That’s how I remember it, too.

For all the ‘dodgers buy their roster’ crowdView attachment 97584
I mean, of

Musgrove
Darvish
Manaea
Snell
Clevinger

a total of 0 were bought financially, they were all brought in via trade.

4 of the top 16 AAV players in the MLB this year are Dodgers (Bauer, Price, Freeman, Betts - I can forgive Dodgers for Price)

As a Cubs fan, I wish my organization spent more. I respect the **** out of it.

But the Dodgers payroll was $60 million more last year than the next highest team, and that was before Freeman!

There’s buying a team, and then there’s saying **** your luxury tax, we’re going to spending our money and keeping the prospects.

Bobby Witt Jr gets his 1st hit of career and gives the Royals the lead in the 8th inning.

Next stud pitcher from Japan. Not sure how many more years he has to stay over there though.
