Have to remember that MSU is also about as average as they'll look vs. most seasons.

They have won 5 in a row after losing 9 in a row and 14 of 15, no doubt they're hot, but doesn't mean they're good. They've had a pretty easy path so far. They'll play Purdue if they win, which they only lost by 2 to back when they were ranked if you can believe it.

watching the second worst team in a mediocre league out-skill 3 tournament quality teams in 3 days makes you wonder about their tournament quality.

i wonder whose NCAA seed OSU would steal if they win this tourney? certainly Rutgers or Illinios right?

Assuming they steal a bid of a conference opponent, Rutgers most likely, maybe Penn state. I think the committee would look at the head to head matchups in this situation. Ohio state split vs Rutgers and lost to Penn State, so Rutgers would get the snub.

It wouldn't automatically bump a BiG team. Would replace whichever team is in the lowest slot (or at least close to lowest). (It could be a Big Ten team by coincidence, it Rutgers/Penn State happen to be in that position.)

ya. i know its not supposed to be that way. i feel like the committee would still target one of those teams you mentioned.

maybe OSU could win and the Big 10 could have all 4 11 seeds to add to their unprecedented parity.

That's a feature and not a bug of the selection process, NET and 'Quad' groupings. It gets mediocre P6 teams in the tournament because they are just good enough to win 4 or 5 of their 15 opportunities against good teams.
Yep, but getting Rutgers into the tournament likely gets more eyeballs than College of Charleston.. I wish it didn't have to be like this

For those of us hoping Big Ten gets as few bids as possible (and seeded as low as possible), Ohio State's surge has indirect side-effects:
(1) Effectively ended Wisconsin's chance for at-large.
(2) Defeated Iowa and MSU, neither of which can improve its seeding directly, since they're no longer playing. A few teams in the vicinity of Iowa/MSU are still in action and could jump.

Marquette has to get the 2nd Des Moines spot now? Regular season champs and made it to their title game also, beat Baylor in non-conference.

K-State could go to Denver also and it would be relatively close for them.
