2021 Goals

Shave about 15 pounds off. I've been kind of a heavy-set eater the last 12 months. But until 2021, excuse me while I grab the last piece of cheesecake from the fridge to go with my coffee.

1. Stay employed - Have the feeling the employment situation could get weird

2. Prep for a move out of state - wife wants out of Illinois by 2022.

3. Have baby #2

4. Keep the 50 lbs off

But everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

fleeing IL is so 2020....

I did the thing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day where I ate until I was completely full and then just kept doing it.

Christmas is behind us and there is only one week of hedonism left before we roll into 2021.

What are your goals for 2021? Call them resolutions if you like, but I prefer goals.

Mine are:
1) Get better sleep - no screen time after 8pm, 8 hrs per night

2) Quit Twitter completely

3) Start weightlifting regimen. I lost a bunch of weight the last two years. I’m going to start putting on muscle following the Bigger, Leaner, Stronger approach.

What say ye?

Awesome goals!

I quit twitter 2.5 years ago. Miss it for quick info but don't miss the pissing matches all the time.

Love Twitter for the news/reactions. Hate Twitter for the comments, like/RT whoring, shock jocks, etc. I’m unfollowing anyone that does this or doesn’t bring interest or info to me. Plus staying out of the comments.

Also for me, cutting back on screen time (damn difficult), biking more (started this spring amd loved it), and getting back into Spanish (took 4 years in HS and 1 year at ISU...but that was 20 years ago).

I want to get healthy again. Just had my second ACL/meniscus surgery in 6 years at 30 years old. My knee hasn’t been the same since before my first surgery. Trying to focus on a complete rehab and get back to an active lifestyle.

Im returning to the gym starting tomorrow. Getting a jumpstart on 2021. However, I did have two cinnamon rolls this morning as a last hurrah.

1) Spend more 1 on 1 time with my daughter - take her golfing and fishing more, and start tent camping/hiking with her.

This is also a goal of mine. I need to do a better job of getting my 5 yr old involved when I’m working on the house or in the woodshop. Gotta get better at patience. Though, that’s pretty tough for a perfectionist like me.

Remember, perfectionists all start by not being perfect. Enjoy the process, not the end result!

Yes. This is much easier said than done for me. It’s a constant battle to just let her work, make mistakes, and learn from them. I’m trying to be better though.

My biggest issue is reminding myself I’m not on a hard schedule. I get too wrapped up in working quickly that I don’t stop to get her involved or give her a simple task to do. A lot of “I just want to get this done” that needs to stop.

The good news is that if it happens a lot, it's a lot of opportunities to work on it. It'll stress you out a lot, but if you're a perfectionist, it's an opportunity to perfect not stressing about the small stuff.

I'm not good at accomplishing goals, but something I'd like to do is get decluttered. I have too much crap. When you have moved three times in a little over 10 years, but have items still in boxes from the first move, it's time to get rid of it.

Good luck!

Just curious though.... Howd you’d tear up your knee twice without already having an active lifestyle?
