its a bad look for Iowa that they had two TE's go in the first round and they still couldn't figure out the forward pass. Most people I know outside the State are lol-ing Iowa right now.
Hate to break it to you and this whole thread sounds like crazytown, but Iowa had more passing yards than we did last year and averaged 5 points/game more, despite having a less than average core of RB's and WR's.

Shannon Sharpe was saying the same thing this morning. His comment was--"There's something wrong there".

Saw this and thought it was pertinent...

It's really amazing if you look past Hockensen and Fant. Nelson and Hooker could be second rounders today. Epanesa will be Top 10 next year. Wirfs is a good NFL prospect, and Stanley will probably be drafted in a middle round. That a ton of talent on last year's team with some pretty "meh" results.

Considering Iowa played the defensive juggernauts of Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, and Nebraska last season, I would hope they averaged more points than ISU.

Tough day for Giants fans. I don't think anyone besides Dave Gettleman and Daniel Jones were happy with that selection at 6. You doing ok @Gonzo ?

Why are we so hard on our receivers for dropping passes? Newsflash: ALL receivers drop passes.

Butler led the nation in yards per catch and I'm sure he probably had a good average of yards after contact. He's also 6'6", physical, and has good speed. Whoever drafts him is getting a steal.

But there are guys like I remember that Josh Doctson at TCU a few years ago. That guy just seemed to catch anything near him.

But as for Butler, I have our games saved on DVR and I watch them when nothing is on, which is a lot. What I notice is Hakeem's lack of effort sometimes and lack of concentration at times. Some of Purdy's passes to him required a jump and it seems Hakeem would jump just enough to get his hands on the ball but it would go through his hands. He needed to jump higher and then he could have gotten his hands solidly on the ball. I'm sure it is things like that which kept him out of the first round. He dropped a lot of passes that came right to his hands. Obviously the NFL scouts have noticed. Too bad because otherwise he has first round size and speed.

Now admittedly he also had some circus-like catches which were amazing to watch. But consistency I suspect is more impressive to the NFL teams.

Gettleman's post Rd 1 media conference really made him look goofy. Thought Ohio St. played in the Big 12 and "fell in love" with his Dukie after watching three series in the second half of the Senior Bowl.

A lot of it is perception. When opponents convert first downs against us, or catch consecutive passes they seem unstoppable. Doctson has issues with dropped passes:

That was good. The other gem was the line about Jones maybe sitting for the first three years like Aaron Rodgers. Gettleman might as well have announced a multi-year contract extension for Eli right then and there.

I don't know if this was ever discussed on here, but surely others noticed that there were a lot of high scoring games in the B1G last year? That myth of tough defenses was exposed! (Michigan actually was pretty tough but still gave up 62 to tOSU).

Also, part of the reason our point production suffered last year was that it took us until our 5th game before we figured out how to play offense and who should be QB. We averaged 17 points in our first 4 games. We averaged 31 once Purdy took over at QB.

Iowa is going to embarrass Purdy in Ames. Book it.

How? Their RB's are meh and their best two ball catchers just got drafted with essentially no experience behind them. That's literally Iowa's offense. They are going to struggle to score this season.
