Great to see some video on the guys. Probably not ideal to judge players on a few minutes of highlights from summer league ball, but a couple observations.

Most surprised by Carter's handle. If he can be dedicated in the weight room over the next 4 months, he could definitely earn minutes.

Naz looks stronger and he looked confident going to the hoop. If he has taken his RS year time off to improve his dribble, he will be a big time threat to fake from 3 and drive.

Holden doesn't look as big as I expected, but he looks smooth in the paint with solid footwork around the basket. Definitely hope he can be a 12/8 guy.

Young is physical. He plays bigger than his height with long arms and nose for the ball. I was also surprised by this touch from 3. I could easily see Young getting 20mpg depending on Bowie and Burton's play.

Long is also a big kid. Liked the range on his shot. Based on video, he don't look confident on the dribble. If he is going to earn minutes in 2016/17, they make need to be at WF. That might be tough with guys like Thomas, Burton, Long and Bowie on this year's team.

Babb was very smooth and has good length. He might be our Mr. Versitile on this years roster playing all 3 perimeter positions.

Video got me excited for Cyclone hoops, good remimder to renew my season tix.

If Holden is a 12/8 guy, we're looking at a team that could easily make a deep run. I wouldn't count on it. More of an 8/6 guy, which I'd be completely OK with.

Yeah, I think he's averaging more minutes than I would want if he's putting up 12 and 8. As an undersized 5 man, he is going to have to play really hard to make up for his size, and I think you'd want to keep his minutes a little low so he can play hard and aggressive all the time.

Poor Nick. He has no idea what Big12 refs are like.
I was in the gym and saw what happened. He didn't get a couple of foul calls, then he took some sort of forced three point shot where he was obviously trying to draw contact and get a call (the kind of shot that would get you benched in a real game). The ref didn't blow the whistle because it was obvious what Nick was trying to do, so Nick started walking off the court while the game was still live. Then he realized he would look foolish sitting on the bench while the clock was running, so he ran over to intentionally foul someone, so a sub could come in for him. It came off as rather pouty and immature. I realize this is only a Cap City game, and shouldn't be judged the same way as a real NCAA game. But it showed he has some maturing to do. I can't imagine Matt, Naz, or Monte doing that.

Aside from that incident (which isn't a huge deal in the big scheme of things), Nick looked very athletic and has great size for his position. He has a lot of potential.

i think nick is the only player that had shown up for all of the CCL games. So I think this shows less that he needs to grow up and more that he was maybe just tired.

The refs were pretty much swallowing their whistles and a lot of calls weren't made that normally would have been. That's to be expected though given the circumstances of the league. There were two big guys (forget their names) who went at each other pretty hard several times during the second game (I think) before fouls started being called. I thought for a minute it was going to come to blows, but cooler heads prevailed.

Jakolby had a few really nice moves off the dribble but didn't finish, so I didn't post it. Had a nice move with Monte all over him and spun past him and went in but Edozie blocked his floater/got fouled but no call. He was the primary ball handler on his high school team. I wouldn't worry about his handles, I think they are pretty good from what I have seen.

I haven't been able to make it down for any games yet so thanks for the videos! Hopefully, I get down there before it's over this year.

Couple of observations:
-Burton makes everything he does look effortless. Fun to watch.
-Carter has that kind of a handle? Has to be fool's gold right? Still, great moves.
-I'm not an expert on technique, but to the ametuer eye Young has what looks to be a really smooth jumper.

Merrill Holden highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtTLGkhCCF/
-He's more skilled than he showed tonight. Was a late arrival so it took him awhile to find his rhythm.

Monte Morris highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtNq_qDOFG/

Jakolby Long highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtSBo3B_c2/

Deonte Burton highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtAYHiBkh0/

Simeon Carter highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtA3v0Bsjh/

Nick Weiler-Babb highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtF0fvBL7L/
-Sat for about 8 minutes in the second half as he was frustrated with the refs so he took himself out.

Solomon Young highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtGQOahYq-/

Naz Mitrou-Long highlights: https://instagram.com/p/BHtPQW5hHlI/

It really seemed like Naz and Burton looked to pass first tonight. Was impressed with Jakolby and Simeon. He's showing improvements, I think if needed, he could give you some minutes down low. Same with Jakolby but in the backcourt, obviously.

Ray Kasongo and Donovan Jackson were in attendance. Kasongo didn't look as big as I thought he would.

Darrell Bowie and Matt Thomas did not play.

Thanks for putting these together!

Just a couple of comments. Morris's form looks better in these highlights. Much more in-line. I always thought he had a tendency to pull his head, especially on his 3 pt attempts. Young seems to be able to use his body and has a good enough handle to get through traffic in the lane. If he gets our defensive schemes down, it definitely looks like he could contribute throughout the season.

Thanks for the video. Line scores would be great.

Several times last night Naz seemed to be taking steps that almost looked like a military goose step. Is that characteristic, just goofing off, or am I seeing things.

The no-defense low key atmosphere is an opportunity for the inner alpha male to emerge. The same part of me that enjoys seeing Phil Mickelson hit a booming drive in to waist high rough enjoyed the missed dunk attempts bounce off the rafters. There were more than one. Burton in particular had an awe inspiring move that bounced back at him; he got a good hand anyway. How about a missed dunk compilation?

He is an inch shorter than McKay but weights more and has longer arms. Not sure I would call that to undersized. He will be fine.

There were a couple of pretty spectacular back to back ones last night, weren't there? :)

One constant that I see is that the team looks in better shape and that they have all improved their handles.

Anybody know what happened to Prohm's dislike of CCL? I thought he made statements last summer to indicate that ISU players wouldn't be taking part this year, but something must have changed his mind.

I don't remember hearing that. I liked hoibergs philosophy of anytime his guys are playing basketball it's a positive and you can't go through the off season worrying about injury. I think that was around the time Paul George had that nasty tear playing for team USA.
