**2016 Capital City League Thread**

I'm supposed to call a doctor if this goes on for more than 4 hours, right?

In all seriousness, how impressive are Carter and the newcomers going to be? I'm trying to temper my expectations, but it's hard not to get excited. Did anyone who attended the game get a feel for Solomon's height? He was supposed to be 6'6", but I read somewhere that he might have been measured at 6'8" now?

Yeah I like what I see and while I'd be hesitant to compare him to Fizer, I think Ejim is a safe comparison. Slightly different game but Solomon looks like he could have averaged 8 & 6 on Fred's first squad, which is probably similar to what Ejim did.

Fizer was a brick wall down low on the block. Strictly body type though Young reminds me of him 6 fpot 8 linebacker build. Fizer although a McDonald's AA had some limitations offensively his freshman year. Hopefully Young can develop in a similar fashion.

Listed at 6'8 on the ISU website.

Young and Long are extremely impressive. I'm really excited to see what kind of player Lard is as well. It'll be crucial to land a stud point guard and a 6'6" type swing man in 2017.

Young is the most Big 12 ready freshman we've had since Fizer. If he continues to improve his offensive game he is going to be an incredible player. I truly don't understand how he wasn't a more highly touted recruit. Would be shocked if he doesn't get a lot of minutes this year.

I'd be surprised if Solomon was more B12 ready than Ejim, but hopefully. Ejim showed up to a more competitive Cap City League and put up huge numbers.

I'm referring more to his body type. We haven't had a freshman that imposing since Fizer that I can remember. Plenty of scoring this year on the floor we won't need him to have the type of production Fizer or Ejim had to put up.

He was labelled as a wing prior to his transfer. This board put him in the front court, but he'll be similar to Burton playing a bit undersized SF in the PF position. He may not have the skillset of Nader, but he should be flexible like Nader and Burton.

Dude, you copied my avatar… Bad form

EDIT: Nvm, my phone swapped avatars. Weird stuff.

Few things...

Nick Babb's stroke looks almost identical to Chris'.
Solomon looks like a beast.
Long has some decent handles.
Carter looks improved (yeah I know, just CCL)
Is it November yet?

I didn't go tonight, but I've been impressed with Carter. He's obviously bigger than he was during the year last year. I think he can be pretty good.

Just in the clips I've seen, he looks to have improved his handle a ton. He's making strides. It may not happen this season, but our frontcourt could be very strong in the near future.

They don't show up the same for me. If you're using the desktop site on a phone the avatar pictures get mixed up a lot FWIW.
Interesting. I'll have to check that out on the desktop later. Good catch by you. I'm not mad, by the way, I just thought it was strange.

Anyway, I'm excited for the new guys but it is just the CCL. You can see the talent it will just be interesting to see how fast it translates to real basketball.

First off... just based on those videos, I'm most excited about Young. He is exactly what we've been needing. A 6'8" beast built like a LB and loves to bang inside.

Babb looks like a freak athlete just going by those videos.... that is exciting. Naz looks 100% healthy too, that is awesome!

Bowie looked good, but much shorter than listed height.

Carter still looks to me to be a year or two away. He just doesn't seem all that coordinated, but when you're that tall..... who is? His best asset would be as a shot blocker and rebounder most likely, but that might be all we need out of him.

I am impressed with how well all these guys shoot the ball from three. The skill seems to be there for all these guys to challenge for minutes. I think it will come down to how mature they are. The intensity is totally different than HS. It took both Monte and Matt awhile to adjust.

I am really impressed with Babb. He reminds me a little of a bigger Naz. Great range and will also take it to the basket. If he plays D like his brother, he will be tough to keep off the floor.

I would compare Young to Calvin Godfrey at this point. Coming in with some size, physicality, and toughness. Didn't have very long to examine Godfrey's skills, his only season was primarily dunks and garbage buckets. Young might have a bit better offensive game. Hope he keeps his nose clean! (Unlike Godfrey)

No Holden, J. Long, nor Young here for game I tonight... Babb is here. Where is everyone? Saw on Twitter that Edozie would be playing tonight.

Nick Babb is down on the floor at Valley Southwoods. Collided with one of his teammates. Sitting up now.

Edit: Jared said he walked off with help and he'll try and get an update after the game

Scary moments as Babb appeared hurt late in game 1. Icing his neck now, looks like he'll be OK. Game 1 was a good one with Babb's ADIO giving Lion's Club their first loss. Babb had a great all around game.

Not really about Cap City league, but when are Jackson and Lard expected on campus? CSP said Lard would be in summer school, but didn't the second summer session start a couple of weeks ago? Maybe he didn't mean at ISU.
