2009-2010 Starting Line up?

the way Dendy and Gilstrap have been playing together in the CCL - any chance we see Dendy, Gilstrap, and Brackins on the floor at the same time?

Wow, I have no clue what I was watching last year apparently. I honestly thought that Buckley was the least valuable player on the team in terms of players that have scholarships. He looked lost, dribbled the ball high/out of control and shot poorly. The only time he really played was in mop up minutes and now he is going to be a starter??? Diante averaged 10 and 5 as an underweight Soph---what did/do people expect from him????

1.DG
2.Gilstrap
3.Lucca or Jamie, Dendy
4.Brackins
5.Dendy or Hamilton, Pomlee
There will be alot of fresh bodies out on the court this year I think. Boozer could crack the starting lineup from time to time. It is good that we have options that consist of more than just one this season so who knows who will be starting?

I'm afraid that this is the only way we finish in the top half of the B12.

100% disagree. DG will see a lot of playing time, probably start every game he's not injured/in trouble, and we'll be better because of it.

I think many of you DG haters may be shocked to learn that, as a sophomore, he was very close to being the best player in the conference in terms of assist rate (assists divided by made field goals by teammates while on the court). link - 2009 Big 12 Conference Leaders for Assist Rate

If healthy, he'll start, and he'll start at the point. His strengths (quickness, vision, handling) fit the PG position. His weaknesses (shooting, mainly) make him a relatively poor choice at the 2G position.

Garrett
Wesley
Gilstrap
Brackins
Hamilton

Sorry, just thinking about what this team could have been if no one would have transferred.

It would be nice to have WJ, but does anyone else feel he lacked the game for a two? I guess he did have a broken foot.

I wasn't sure where to put him, he may not have ever played the two guard spot while he was here. I couldn't remember. I was trying to think of a way to put him, Gilstrap and Brackins all in the same lineup.

He wont, he'll just move to the two.

I just dont see how that can happen. DG is a good PG but shoting the ball isnt what he does well. If your 2 cannot shoot well that allows a defender to back off him and allow him to help on CB. Last year teams had to respect Petey and Lucca. If Gillstrap is as good as we hear he is this will take pressure off Lucca and allow him to be the 3rd option, which he should excell at. This will also open the middle up so the PG DG can get to the hoop and if he can finsh add another threat to the team. I can see Buck and DG going 18 mins each with Colvin getting 4 or 5 a game. I am growing tired of the reason player A plays a lot is because of his D. If you cannot score or get assists, is there really a reason you should get a lot of mins?

Colvin will NOT see many minutes once big12 play starts. He may be a playmaker, but it is rare to have a freshman PG playing major minutes in a major conference. I don't expect him to make any major contributions his first year. He may have a couple of big time "John Neal" games where he is just on, but he will not have a major impact on how this team will do.

This would be an awesome starting five.

Colvin
Garrett
Gilstrap
Brackins
Dendy

Talk about being able to run the court

I think this group would be great from a running/athletic point of view. I don't see much outside shooting from this group, however.

I'd personally, rather see Lucca at the 2. Seems DGls strength is at the point.

His other material weaknesses are strength and the ability to finish. Also, his poor shooting allows opponents to sag off of him around the perimeter, thereby negating his quickness. I appreciate the effort that DG has put into the program and the fact that he was thrown into competition before he was "ready." I also agree that he was the better option at point guard when our only other choice was Brian Peterson. However, I think you would have to be sipping on some pretty strong Kool-Aid to think that DG will be able to provide the level of play necessary to lead this team to an upper-level finish in the B12.

I'm hoping that with some experience under his belt, Buckley can step up this year, and looking forward to future years, hopefully Colvin can do so as well. I agree that DG will be the starter at the begining of the year, but hopefully that changes as the year goes on.
