Tornado sirens clear stands at Iowa State
Tornado sirens forced officials to clear the stands, press box and suites at Iowa State's Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, about an hour before the scheduled start of the Cyclones' game with No. 22 Colorado.

That was such an awesome night to be in the student section. I cannot believe it was 15 years ago. I feel old.
I was there. A friend of mine said he was driving south on highway 69, looked to his right and saw a twister so he just sped up. A guy a few rows in front of us who was working hard to just stay vertical was astonished when he was Informed that the game was started late due to tornadoes, he didnt know.
They should have brought on Joel Klatt to also be on the panel.
The band had already marched to the stadium when they ordered the evacuation. As they "marched" [sauntered] back past us in the parking lot on the way to...Stevens?...many of them were chanting "The band is seeking shelter...the band is seeking shelter..."
I remember drinking in the student lots and the police driving through telling everybody to go to Hilton for tornado cover. Nobody left and we all kept drinking with our flip phones out ready to take pics.
We didnt leave the students lots, damn that was a fun night.
I remember seeing a stream of people headed to Hilton and not knowing why and then climbing on top of an RV “looking” for it.
I was there with my kids...they still talk about that game and how much fun it was
I stayed in the student lot and drank the entire time. I heard some talk of the tornado but was too drunk to realize what was going on. I didn’t realize people had been evacuated until the next day. Good times.
I think there were 100s if not 1000s of people that didn’t realize there was actually a tornado until the next day.
We pulled up and they told us to stay in our vehicle because one had touched down in West Ames and Hilton was full. Wife and I said screw being the morons in the flipped vehicle and went inside.
So fun. Had all the kids on the hillside dodging the trash blowing our way. One of my very favorite games.
One of the kids had a school activity and we were late getting there. Just parked in a lot with no one taking our money as they had evacuated. Did not get towed and mailed a check to AD the following Monday.

By far the best atmosphere I've ever seen in a football game! When big man Brent Curvey returned that INT!! Love every second of that game!
Not to be a complete Debbie downer, but that was the second to last game of the year and winner was headed to the Big 12 title game. We won, but then followed that great win by laying a complete egg against Kansas the following week removing us from the title game. I believe we lost by missing a field goal per the norm of Iowa State football.
