$100 million theme park coming to Waterloo.

Funny Adventureland story... In the early 1980s my job was 12 hour shifts cleaning the park restrooms one after the other. Most park goers AIN'T right with what they do in there.

Yeah my son and I do the waterpark after rides so we can just wear our swim shorts on the way out and air dry...mainly so we don't have to change in the gross locker rooms.

What kinds of rides would one find at an RV park????
Actually they did have very nice playgrounds for kids and a nice lake with a very good beach in the RV park. They had paddle boats that my granddaughter and her friend really enjoyed. Since we retired we have traveled the US extensively in our motorhome and have stayed in all sorts of RV parks.

Their Lost Island RV Park compares very well to the nicer parks that we've stayed in. The top-notch development of the RV park and the water park tells me that the proposed theme park will be top-notch as well. That is coming from a retired civil engineer that has designed public RV parks in my previous working life.:D

If it can go into, then come out of a human body, I swept it across a floor to a dust pan ill-equipped for the task. I was 17 and learned some things are easier to clean up after it had dried.

And I bet that provided some motivation to make sure you were not spending the rest of your life doing that type of labor (although God Bless the people who do).

Never been to Lost Island waterpark but have been curious to try it out. For those who have been there and to Adventureland's waterpark, how do they compare?

Lost Island is better. It's just that most people think that because it's in Waterloo it must be worse.

I'm really glad towns other than Des Moines in Iowa continue to develop like this. (Not that I'm against DSM developing too)

My family has season passes to Lost Island and we’ve been to Adventureland a few times. Lost Island is better and cleaner.

A wealthy, under-the-radar highly successful real estate developer (since deceased) in CR 15 years ago went before the city/county board and proposed a hotel/water park in an area adjacent to the Hwy 100 bypass in Marion (Menards is located there, etc). The concession for the city? Grant him a 10-15 yr tax abatement.

The city said no. He walked....and basically gave them the middle finger

The city and their citizens have also shot down gambling for decades

In the interim, $$ millions of dollars have left Linn Co every year--to Waterloo, Dubuque, Prairie Meadows, Riverside Casino, Quad Cities, Mesquakie, etc., because the dopey, backwards, curmudgeons in Linn Co had their heads up their azzes.

The ship has sailed. That bus has left the station for CR area. Lost revenue; lost restaurant business; lost employment opportunities.

CR is great if you're married with 2-3 kids, attend kid soccer /softball games, shop at Hy-vee, eat at Texas Roadhouse, and are from a small town. LMAO

Looks like Adventureland gonna need to step up their game now
I don't think Aland has anything to worry about. I live in the metro and it would have to be like Disneyworld for me to go up there. I think there is plenty of population for both parks to do just fine.

I love Lost Island and think it compares very favorably with the big waterparks in Wisconsin Dells.
