Athletes you used to love/hate, but view differently now.

What are some athletes that you have changed your opinion on? college or pro

used to like, but now dislike: Brett Favre (used to love his gunslinging mentality and toughness, some of the recent allegations was disgusting)

used to dislike, but now like: George Kittle (Hawk, but funny guy and good teammate to Brock)

Bill Self is a coach that I used to dislike, but now somewhat like him because he is usually very complimentary of Iowa State

Oh my.......I'm going to get run right out of here.......but for me it's Caitlin Clark. To me she was a whiny twirp in High School to a whiny brat in college. Now I am intrigued with how polarizing she is. Good bad or indifferent, she is polarizing.

Favre is one..keeping it in the sport-only column I think the retroactive view of him during Rodgers' tenure was pretty bad; he was pretty reckless with the ball and has just as many rings.

Rodgers also kind of fits this for me; his last few years in GB showed a very careless side, particularly in his last series to end his last two seasons.

The off-field stuff for either speaks for itself.

I'll have to think of others but even if they were good I think less of any ISU player that allegedly basically had to be babysat in order to function.

Manny Pacquiao (boxer)

When I first watched him as a young fighter coming up I thought he came off as kind of cocky and brash. Eventually turned into a huge fan as I followed his career. Guy is truly a good human being along with being an all-time great in the ring.

Hated Shaq when I was younger. Love the big guy now. Not sure what changed. I just think I didn't understand him. Plus, he went and played for the Lakers.

Loved Rodman when he was a Bull, Don't have much of an opinion on him now. His act got old.

Used to love Coach K at Duke. Then started to dislike him in the early 1990's. Now I see Duke for what it is. They have always bought players.

Basketball: Royce, obvious reasons
Racing: Max and Lewis. Now i love them both.

I'm unfamiliar with Royce White after he left ISU. He was a great help for Hoiberg to get some momentum.

Hated him when he was a player.

Wouldn't say I like him after, but he did some self deprecating stuff after he retired that gave me a bit of pause, at least. So the hate is gone.
