Former Iowa State star Curtis Jones is getting his NBA shot on a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Actually super good pay. I believe they get half the amount of the league minimum. So he’ll make $500kish as long as he’s on that contract the full year.
Probably about on par with what he made at Iowa State last year.

Lot of moments last year where he showed he deserved a real shot regardless of being “old”.

And it's significantly less than most of our starters will be getting this season.

Try mentioning the reasons for that and you’ll get fire bombed by many here. I’m not sure why it’s so controversial, it’s obvious. The brand on the jersey is why the pay is so high and the brand is only valuable because of alumni who lived on or near campus/paid tuition and to a lesser extent tax payers when it’s a state university.

Minor league sports have more talent than ncaa and there’s almost no interest. No college brand with identical or superior talent, this $ all goes away completely.

Odd Denver has its AAA team in Grand Rapids.

Long flight back-and-forth. It's not like he's in Colorado Springs.

I thought most NBA teams moved their D-League teams nearby by now?

Most are at the very least within like 6 hours. Then you have the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat who's teams are halfway across the country

Sioux Falls? Wow.

Image being drafted by Miami and imagining living on South Beach and ending up in South Dakota.

Sioux Falls is really nice, but yeah, it ain't South Beach, especially for a young pro athlete.
