It’s so fun hearing this team being compared to the 2000 team. I have been privileged to see both and they are VERY different in their style of play, but also very alike in roles played. This is a better defensive team IMO. If Soares lives up to the hype I’d love her to be the second coming of Angie Welle. I mean that in the sense of a post who runs with the guards up and down the court, rebounds and is powerful inside scoring. Big shoes to fit. Other parallels…
Ryan and Taylor - both have motors that just don’t stop. Threat to score and rebound. Ryan adds the assist factor.

Donarski and Frese - constant movement. Outside scoring threat. Frustrating defenders.

Joens and Gahan - tough, physical pound it type of players.

team then played zone D. Today much more man.

what was beautiful to watch in 2000 was ISU had five players that ran the floor. Welle could and would often beat the guards down the court. This transitional game broke down some teams as they had players that might be bigger but couldn’t keep up. This is going to be fun…
