One hell of a career and 96 years young.

  • Three time Oscar nominee (Manchurian Candidate, Picture of Dorian Gray, Gaslight)
  • Five time Tony winner
  • 18 time Emmy nominee
Unbelievably she never won an Emmy even playing Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote. Nominated 11 times for that role...zero wins.

  • Beauty and the Beast (Mrs. Potts)
  • Mary Poppins, Returns
  • Sweeney Todd
  • Death on the Nile

Truth. I remember growing up and seeing that show come on when staying at my grandparent's and thinking 'great...'
Same here. I remember talking to my grandmother about it, when I got a little older and asked why Jessica was never investigated as a serial killer. I mean every time she went to a hotel, someone was murdered and it was always her who supposedly "Solved" the murder implicating someone else. The common denominator was that Jessica showed up, someone dies.

2022 doesn't seem like it's had the numbers that the last couple of years have had but some of people lost this year have been absolute legends.

I hated that they remade that movie with Meryl Streep. Lansbury's portrayal was untouchable in that movie. She should have won the Oscar for that.
I never saw the Meryl Streep version. They skirted her incestuous sexual abuse of her son that occurred in the novel by just implying something with a creepy kiss, I always wondered if the later version was more explicit but didn’t really have the heart to watch it.

If there was a multiple choice question: When did the Murder, She Wrote lady die?
A. Today
B. 5 years ago
C. 10 years ago
D. 20 years ago

I’m picking A last.

I have never seen Murder, She Wrote but that's the first thing I thought of. Second was Mrs. Potts because I've got 4 kids who love Disney stuff. Oh, who am I kidding, I loved Beauty and the Beast when I was a kid too.
